I've never gotten the red D so far, but the problems could indeed be related. After a first read burst of about 25MB/s for a couple of seconds (that's when I'm seeing the spinning beachball) the system reports constant disk reads around 5MB/s. As soon as the disk I/Os stop (after 5 or 10 minutes or ...

I'm getting a lot of disk I/O in the beginning, which I think is absolutely normal and does not bother me at all. That also shouldn't hog the CPU, because of DMA. My question is: What are my CPUs doing when they should be idle??? They are between 100 and 140% all the time without Live doing anything...

from my attempt to load the grand piano in RAM, it appears that the grand piano patch amounts to over 5 gigs of samples!! given that, it does not surprise me that many computers are having trouble with it (mine included!) That would result in a high RAM usage and/or a lot of harddisk i/O activity b...

my hope would be to get a buttload of RAM (I've actually had more problems with the disk overload light when using the grand piano) I have 4GB RAM installed. (Forgot to mention.) But Live doesn't use a lot of it. Currently my system status shows 2,65 GB of free RAM and Live use 855MB only with the ...

Grand piano and other EIC instruments hog CPU
Grand piano and other instruments hog CPU for no apparent reason while Live itself displays low CPU usage.

CPU hog simpler / EIC grand piano
Live got overall faster with version 6, but I have one problem where CPU usage gets really high: After dragging the grand piano instrument rack into a midi track, the system shows that Live is constantly using around 100% CPU without doing anything else. Live itself displays a CPU usage of 3% only. ...

The results: - The warp modes Beats, Texture, and Repitch resulted in 100% cancellation, comfirmed by my meters. - The warp modes Tones and Complex did not cancel, with Tones being the worse of the two (the most audio information was audible where total silence should occur). Great idea to test thi...
