Re: XRack(summing and Gbus) vs Ableton and The Glue
Test 2 is the X-Rack. More definition and better handling of the dynamics. But, as said before, this isn't really an honest test because even if you matched the settings on the compressors, the software could still handle the material different so I could be wrong. I have a friend who owns an X-des...

Any Korg Monopoly users?
Hey there,
I'm looking at a Korg Monopoly to add to the kit. Currently use a Moog Voyager and after something with a different flavor and snappier envelopes.
Anyone use one a Korg Monopoly? Any thoughts/advice/love/hate you can share would be dope.
Cheers

Re: XRack(summing and Gbus) vs Ableton and The Glue
I preferred test2 the test1 track sounded more forward and slightly (but not a lot) harsh and the test2 sounded more rounded and wider Ive been mixing for about 2 days straight though, so I could be way off by tomorrow morning :p Would love to hear your opinion tomorrow morning and see if you stick...

XRack(summing and Gbus) vs Ableton and The Glue
I'm demoing some kit I'd like to buy..so I made a little blind test for myself and friends which I thought to share with you guys too. One of the files is: A loop + snare + kick + bassline going through to separate summing channels on the XRack and routing through a very heavily pumped Gbus compress...

Re: Headroom
Here's what I don't get about headroom in the digital world... Why would a mastering engineer need us to turn down a mix and give him 3db (which I usually do by chucking a Utility plugin on the master and taking it down a few db), instead of doing so themselves using a trim/gain reduction plugin? I ...

Re: Fake Blood Style Basslines
You need too much modulation for Ableton synths to do it alone. Usually there's a modulation on the pich envelope, the waveform and filter. run it all through a nice phaser + distortion and you will be on your way. But Operator an Analogue don't have enough modulation points unless you get into clip...

I'm now imagining the whole NI online support team leeching off the Ableton forums... reading bug reports about their software using the Live beta forums etc..

My Maschine praise thread...
I've gotta hand it to the NI team. The Maschine is one cool machine! (I love bad puns). It's been ages since I got something in music that's actually fun to use and relies on me using my ears instead of my eyes for things like picking sounds. Anyways, if any NI peeps read this forum.. totally loving...

Re: quick question for Maschine owners..
The sequencer is pretty cool and I would definately use it over Live's sequencing when it comes to drums. Ideally I'd like to not have to set the controller up on my desk everytime I use it. You can certainly use it without the controller but to me that defeats the whole purpose of Maschine which i...
