sorry, didn't realize mac version was still only standalone. maybe augustus or musolmo (don't think the latter really works)? regardless, good luck (from someone who's looked into just about everything, and shares your frustration).

in rock at least, there's a history of rank beginners who do everything "wrong" and end up doing something awesome (e.g., read up on how deerhoof recorded it's music in the beggining, insane). so technique may not be particularly necessary, may in fact discourage happy accidents. though i ...

um, because i'm not interested in the merits of the debate re mopho's sound, don't care who likes or dislikes what or why (i use things i like regardless of others' opinions, as i assume anyone else would). i just find the meta-issue -- look it up -- entertaining: someone w/o much of a clue -- oh, s...

i find the meta issue more interesting that the actual merits of the mopho (as i said, i could care less what anyone buys, and would actually prefer fewer people to have what i like to use): you seem particularly interested in dissing a synth you admittedly know very little about (haven't heard live...

why yes, yes i have, having spent a long time in a studio with both the prophet and the mopho -- the mopho sounded so good i bought one, which is not something i generally do, feeling i have my synth needs covered -- and also having no reason to believe DSI is lying when they say the mopho is one vo...

use mobius, it's a free VST, put it in one track on live (or use standalone) and you have 8 stereo tracks, each track can be in sync with others (or not), and each track can have multiple loops (for A/B sections, etc.). not easy to get up to speed, but once you do, it's pretty incredible.

oh, and pray tell, what sounds better in that price range? i mean, what synths can you get for $400, let alone all analog? (btw, not a rhetorical question -- i love cheap synths, some of my favorite sounds comes from $200 synth pedals you play with knobs, if you've got something you really think sou...

um, yeah, you're backtracking, rather than just admiting you can't say the prophet sounds better than the mopho cause they're the same (though the mopho has the added spice of the subosc and the ability to process audio). don't get me wrong, i could care less if you don't like the mopho. just don't ...

yeah, i'm clearly out of touch, cause i don't get the analog kick drum fetish (just like i wouldn't get someone who wanted guitar that sounded just like hendrix, or bass just like flea, or whatever).

amen. embrace the limitations/charm of your current gear, squeeze the genius from it (the fight will make your kung fu stronger), be the next new sound rather than the X-teenth lame derivative sounding wannabe, etc.

this has come up a lot recently, live won't do what you're looking for w/o lots of effort and workarounds, try software (i use mobius, there are other candidates).

btw, as i've mentioned before, i love angstro looper for ambient and other stuff, just didn't see any easy way to have A/B sections against (e.g.) a rhythm track (or chop pieces out of multiple loops at once, etc.). i wish mobius had the tape sound angstro does.

ok, just checked the looperlative, it's still missing a number of functions that mobius handles easily, and even getting close is very complicated (e.g., have one track in sync with others, yet moving between various loops (as parts of song) on that track. as to that the cost, and SW seems a no-brai...
