Re: Thanks for the input, I think Macbook Pro but...
How much Ram is necessary? or Speed? Will the basic 2.2ghz, 2GB Ram be sufficient for production and performance? Max out the RAM if you can afford it... but don't buy your RAM from apple, since they overcharge like mad. :) The new macbooks support up to 4Gb, and that upgrade will buy you a lot mor...

For best bang for buck, Get the highest spec 'white' macbook you can, and stick a load of RAM in it. I have a 2.0Ghz with 2 Gb ram and find it more that adequate. Get the ram from crucial and not apple (it's much cheaper). The new macbooks can take up to 4gb ram so there's no point in going for a M...

Also I just realized you mentioned this happened at a gig -- perhaps temperature and CPU load had something to do with it?
Next time you play out, might want to install temperature monitor and see what it's running at.

So, any ideas for an iPhoto i\alternative anybody? Yeah, this interests me, too... iLife is too expensive for me to justify the cost, given that I only would use iPhoto, and even then, rather sparingnly. I still do things the old-fashioned way (directories), but would appreciate a nice alternative..

I tried this, and due to destroying the cable during dismantling, I rendered it nil. And I ain't no noob when it comes to electrical parts... Same here, I tried replacing the batt on my mini a couple years ago and broke the cable as well. Now I have my daughter's iPod video's battery to replace so ...

Re: OT - Replacing iPod battery
my iPod's battery only holds a charge for about an hour or so, which is not surprising given that it's usually connected to a dock. Yeah never letting rechargeable batteries completely discharge now and then can reduce the life, of course. Did you try letting the battery totally discharge, complete...

Cool cool, I have understant what I must do. Tanks a lot everybody. One quick note -- doing automation for MIDI devices is going to be a pain in the ass, and you'll likely find that the most efficient approach is to just record it and work with audio files instead of sequencing MIDI. As for the vir...

Re: OT - Replacing iPod battery
Has anyone else done a battery replacement on their own? Recommended sites or other advice? I did this for my 3rd gen iPod (a bit older than yours if you can watch video clips on yours). It came with the tools and instructions. It wasn't particularly difficult - only tough getting everything back i...
