has this been resolved yet? I find extreme midi delays with a busy set. Also I am about to invest in a Genoqs Nemo, and looking to sequence clips and instruments in live from it... but not if I'm gonna come up against this problem. I find as a set gets bigger and more plugins etc the delay becomes w...

You will need a MIDI-CV converter, yes. The MIDI-CV converter should have at a Gate out and a CV out. You plug the CV out into your oscillator(s) and the Gate out into your Envelope Gate/Trigger input. Usually it will translate pitch bend for you. Velocity you have to set up yourself. You will need ...

Re: Ableton Live, Linux and PulseAudio

looks good. link was broken. fixed link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PulseAudio Ubuntu Linux now comes with a pretty slick sound server called PulseAudio (it does a similar job to CoreAudio under Mac). It would be great if Ableton was able to see this as an opportunity really expand what could be d...

did you budget a so great controller? I'd prefer to buy a lemur... it should be cheaper :-p Indeed - good point! I didnt get round to budgeting it, no... maybe I will, when I have some time again. It could be cool if its not stupidly expensive. But the lemur could be used for the same effect in a s...

If you want real distortion ... I would avoid VST's - if you have access to any guitar distortion pedals, valve amps... I would try putting synth lines though those. In general, software distortion sucks.

Big up for posting this, it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the original post about the Live python API. My ideal controller (expensive it may be...) would have little buttons with LCD displays as well as colour, so I can see clip names... basically to be a hardware version of the sessio...

I picked up a FAT Procoder PCP330 a year or so ago... was about £130 I think on eBay. Only used it a few times but it does the trick very nicely indeed!! Prob not the best analog vocoder you can buy but it did it for me.

Check "Bleep" on myspace.com/adamelemental for an example....

I use an FMR Really Nice Compressor on the main out when I play live. Tightens up the sound a bit, and helps with level differences through the set.
Studio, no.

Without question

If it was possible and stable, I'd be there. I'd even be up for helping out to get it going if I could.

I think VST's can run under linux no?

If it is played live, I reckon its going through some kind of pitch detector which is controlling the LFO rate. Nice sound init.

Re: Do any of you do this?

http://sonictransfer.com/ableton-live-mixing-utility-plugin.shtml This article describes using the utility plugin (gain) to draw in volume envelopes so that the volume fader stays moveable. Sounds like a good idea. Anybody doing this? Pitfalls? yes I never automate channel volume. no pitfalls afaik
