No hell breaking lose here. Live simply did not recognize the changes happening (Live kept reporting the old value regardless of what was set). Playback was still well possible. Only by time with lots of switching around did the driver get corrupted by that discrepancy upto a point where nothing was...

Nah, I have read all (partly repetitive) advices here, thanked everybody for providing them and am considering them in my plans for doing my room treatments. Albeit I don't see how putting up proper corner traps contradicts what Angstrom wrote (besides that I posted my reply before reading Angstrom'...

Off course. What do I know? I've only experienced it for a few sessions. The fact that it happened to you totally negates my experience. I find it funny that you can use the term "never before". I experienced (and reported) it about 6 or 7 months ago to RME and Ableton. Back then you were...

Putting carpets and blankets into the room will be counterproductive, those will dampen high frequencies only and thus make the room even more boomy. edit - dunno man, those are huge reflective surfaces, just ignoring them is the wrong move when you're chasing these small details. I think you're ov...

I am primary fighting room modes and some early reflections here. Like several people including me already wrote before the room modes are at very specific frequencies depending on my rooms dimensions. The only way to dampen those is to put up some effective bass traps that stop airwaves from bounci...

Thats not even a vista issue. It may be a Live issue or an RME issue. Because I've seen this on macs too. The trick is to set the buffer to the size you wish, reboot the computer and you're good to go. RME is aware of this because they don't dispute it when you return a device. They'll just give yo...

Tone, I am starting to wonder whether your sarcasm filter is broken? My personal experience with Tone is that he easily resorts to insulting and rants, then falls back to calm friendliness, just to get maniacly mad about you or the topic again. At least in this Forum world he seems to be what accor...

On Windows Vista and independent of buffer size and CPU usage, using some FW based audio interfaces would always result in clicks & pops in the audio as soon as multi-core support was enabled. Today I had an instance on Windows XP where 7.09b1 would not recognize any changes of the Audio Buffer...

I'm not telling vista is a complete piece of krap but I wonder why you could be tempted to take the vista plunge for audio production.

If a window was opened from within the Live process that Live does not know about (for example from NI Kore), Live would crash when opening a context menu or a popup chooser. Very cool, I was chasing NI a bit about this, haven't downloaded to find out if it's fixed, but I could reproduce that crash...

On Windows Vista and independent of buffer size and CPU usage, using some FW based audio interfaces would always result in clicks & pops in the audio as soon as multi-core support was enabled. What does that mean in plain english/german please? Is this related to priority related problems being...

That bit doesn't really matter once you've properly setup Vista for Audio Production and your drivers are bugfree.

For the basstrap fillings I used high density stonewool by Isover, i think it was this one: http://www.isover.de/desktopdefault.aspx/tabid-124/122_read-108/ That specialized acoustic stuff wasn't for sale at ordinary hardware stores like Bauhaus, etc.. but should be readily available at any decent ...

Without Aero you run into serious performance problems because Live uses some exotic Windows' graphic-routines that seem to have changed with Vista. With Aero you run into troubles when using small audio buffers because Aero's CPU priorities are as high as those of Live's audio routines.

Thanks for the hints DJSynchro. Did you check my pictures? I tried that aka I moved the speaker around to various spots. It does change overall bass response, but it cannot help with room modes. And since room modes is what I am fighting here, the only solution seems to be bass traps. I would go fo...
