Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?

Why do people go on about regulating music? It's an art form! Manipulating and distorting sounds has been standard practise since tape was invented. You don't ever listen to a snare drum from 3 inches away, so why stick a mic there, as well as one underneath... that's natural as well... but people ...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?

Haha, but I mean there are standards for impedance and speakers and stuff, not so dramatic to have some sensible standard for the digital signal, it's far from optimal from an engineering point of view the way it behaves today. All movies are mastered at a calibrated level, we don't need to reinvent...

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?

It's like the CO2 emissions, nobody wants to be the first one to change, there has to be political regulations :) , or some standard that everyone has to follow.

Re: So is there any progress on the loudness front?

i don't care at all about how loud a track is, only about how good the sound and production is. for the volume there is a big knob on the system and or a gain, etc... But you don't want to sit on the knob the whole day and tweak, and you don't want to blow your years when you change track either. T...

So is there any progress on the loudness front?

I've been mastering some tracks for friends and myself the last weeks and when I match to other recordings, they are often mastered hot as hell. For example Butter with Hudson Mohawke and Vitalics new album. If I play Vitalic bit to bit to my d/a converter I get audible distorsion as well. So I wond...

Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?

Actually the remote script for the microKONTROL provide som info on the leds, and that's because it dumps sysex of course. On my monome I use liveosc which works really nice, with realtime feedback of parameters.

Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?

Thanks, will have a look. I've been using mackie emulation for several years now but I just wanted to check the status on the live scripts. It's not easy peasy to get led feedback from mackie emulation either, lc xmu is really good on that for those who have supported controllers.

Re: Documentation of midi remote scripts?

I don't have a User Remote Scripts folder, you mean in Live.app/Contents/App-Resources/'MIDI Remote Scripts' (on mac)? It's a real pity that the documentation and the implementation and documentation is that bad, as people invest a lot of money in controllers. I mean the hardware is often quite good...

Documentation of midi remote scripts?

I have been testing the midi remote scripts for my microKONTROL now, it works, but not as good as lc xmu which displays correct names for everything. I was planning to test my padKONTROL as well but live cannot dump the settings, is there any documentation of these scripts and which mappings that sh...

Re: Glitch when playback and in the beginning of rendered file

bump

No other programs have this glitching behavior, I have the same sample rate in os x as in the live pref. as well. Sometimes when i play files via quicklook when ableton is running I get some weird 'bit crusher' effect also.

Glitch when playback and in the beginning of rendered file

I get this glitch in the beginning of the song when I start playback (but not always), and when I render the song to a file it's there as well. Is this a common problem? It's really annoying because even if I have some bars completely silent before the first kick I get this anyway, so if I want to u...

Re: Need help with setting up LiveOSC

I know there are some problems with python on older versions on live, but I only thought they appeared on mac. Only live 8 works natively with osc and liveosc, in live 7 I had to communicate with virtual midi ports to get pages running for example. Look for ST8 posts on the monome forum.

Re: Stereo imaging plugin?

Thanx, sitting on snow leo nowadays, so I'll the try the stereo tool on the flux home page. Used wavelab to do this before. Here is a reincarnation of the monitors I use http://guruproaudio.com/category/the-qm10/ , the famous piP among audio geeks here in sweden.

Re: Want to check out some record labels, best resource?

cheers, I had a look on resident advisor last night, its quite good but it lacks some features. The thing is that I want to release some stuff I've done now together with a friend of mine, but it was a while ago since I was active on the scene DJing and performing, so I've lost track :( . It's quite...

Re: Stereo imaging plugin?

I need it for mastering yep, and my ears and my room (even though acoustically treated and room calibrated) are not perfect, but my monitors are ;)
