Re: Bitwig 1.0
News flash: investing in being a musician can be expensive. And then it's hard to make a living at. And I'm talking about being an instrumentalist who actually works. Not a guy fucking around with beats in his underwear. Yes it's tough but all of the pros I know and work with invest in good tools f...

Re: Bitwig 1.0
Actually, assuming they already have a computer, it's a pretty inexpensive way to start making electronic music. I would actually recommend ableton to someone starting out at this point, as it's what I've used for 12 fucking years and bitwig still doesn't exist. But for how deeply invested in electr...

Re: Bitwig 1.0
Wow, ok, some things you should know about me: I don't own a car. I have two pairs of shoes. I currently live in my aunts attic. All of my worldly possessions fit easily in a SUV with the seats folded down. The only shit I've spent money on is music stuff. I am simply comparing the price of bitwig, ...

Re: Bitwig 1.0
400usd sounds cheap to me, but maybe i'm just accustomed to everything for electronic music being expensive.
i'll probably just buy the thing to fuck around with it at that price.

Re: No delay compensation for Automation??
no problem, man. I totally understand. But you know, there are all sorts of threads that connect those worlds. For instance, I think you could listen to ?lhan Mimaro?lu's rubber band piece, "bowery bum" --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flDXiFWpkww and see a line from that to the T++ spac...

Re: No delay compensation for Automation??
String, forgive me, it's just that I write music that is somewhat part of the very long and very wide traditions of both dance and electronic music and i cringe when i read opinions that are dismissive of those traditions. I do take it a little bit personally, you know? It seems like there's a lot o...

Re: No delay compensation for Automation??
@ stringtapper Yeah, well I think you are conflating the concept of frequency as a sound design parameter with the concept of pitch as it pertains to melody or harmony. ;). You have to admit that none of my example tracks contain much in the way of melody or harmony, they are pretty much just rhythm...

Re: No delay compensation for Automation??
I wouldn't be so quick to define the parameters of something as broad as "dance music." I mean, I suppose by design it's going to have to have rhythm, but I've heard plenty of tracks destroy a dance floor that didn't rely on traditional use of pitch relationships at all. Just like all othe...

Re: No delay compensation for Automation??
I don't know about all that. I mean, there are some incredible pieces of music out there that are all about sound design and very little to do with traditional harmony/melody/rhythm. But I think really good sound design doesn't require a million instances of plug ins or a ton of layered tracks. It r...

Re: No delay compensation for Automation??
I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that automation not being compensated would cause muddy sound, either. It will mean that change in parameters will be delayed, not that the actual output of the plugin will be delayed. You may be slightly confused. if instrument volume adjustments are not ...

Re: Delay Compensation ???
delay compensation is on by default. it is found under the options menu. if i understand you correctly, you are routing the audio from a return track into a another track in live. In this case you will run into a problem of uncompensated latency unless you disable the corresponding send on the track...
