yea. you can do ffts manualy (PITA!), or you can let the pfft object do the windowing for you. the math really goes as deep as you desire it to go, and for what max cant do on its own, there are always the wealth of free externals (see maxobjects.com) and you can also code your own with java/javascr...

I don't recall alot of math taking place in either of those, maybe basic addiition subtract or some very basic algebra. maybe I'm wrong? im sure discrete fourier transforms have nothing to with math.. :wink: max/msp/jitter is really nothing BUT math. its an interpreted programming language wrapped ...

you know there are many slicer like patches designed for max/msp already? that OSC control of live would enable whatever key comands you could ever dream of through max/msp?
