I really think a lot of it has to do with the Digi002R/Core Audio combo. It runs a lot smoother on the Mac's internal or Echo Indigo I/O (also sounds better than the 002R). funny, your original post sounded like you were blaming the problems on ableton. Perhaps Ableton is partly to blame, dunno, bu...

Live 5 - Mac OSX optimized or not?

While I'm quite excited about what 5 has to offer, my excitement is contained as I haven't found any answers about Altivec and making it run smoothly on my Powerbook G4. I've got a 1.25GHZ and 1GB of RAM and Live still struggles, spinning beachballs, audio dropouts, clips slow to initiate when booti...

Beast slicing is the easiest thing to do in Live. Mind you, I always work in Arranger mode for everything. Take loop, warp it nicely if needed, click on transients, click Apple+E to slice, done. I can re-arrange directly on the timeline or bring all the slices into Impulse if I'm feeling trigger-hap...

If I may be so bold as to suggest the KRK V6II's. Don't know why you seem to lean on the RP series, which don't compare at all with the V's, the latter being a clearly superior design. The V6 retail for $699 US, they sound absolutely gorgeous and more importantly, translation has not been a problem ...

So I got the o2 a few days ago and took the Korg back. No regrets to date. Back to simplicity, full keys, and nearly just as much control as I had with the Korg, without the pretty colored lights and LED readouts and crappy pads. With the money I saved, I picked up an Echo Indigo I/O, which is also ...

I/O selector from the Arrange window

Please bring that back. It's been brought up before, argued, debated (whether or not it was necessary) and finally agreed upon when more "Arranger types" chimed in. Some of us Live devotees rely solely on the Arrange window for all stages of creation, so let us choose what interface and in...

yeah, that's the one, the o2!
The pitch and mod being buttons instead of wheel/stick is odd but nothing I can't get used to...

I think it's going back tomorrow.
My Oxygen 8 died recently and I thought I'd try something different, and it's certainly the pads that appealed to me about the MK. That said, I miss the simplicity of the M-Audio and might get the new thinner version, whatever it's called.

just got a Korg Micro Kontrol

and while I thought the mini keyboard was gonna be the factor to tip the scale, I actually quite like the feel of it. However, it's the pads that have me baffled. I have to pound on those things to get them to trigger! Ok, I'm slightly exagerating but I guess it's coming from the MPC (even the 1000)...

I've worked on Genelecs (1030A), owned Mackie 824's, and many other so-called hi-end monitors. One day got a chance to hear the Dynaudio BM6A's, I was sold. No spaker in that price range sounded so full, clear, deep and detailed than the Dyns. Not to mention how well they translate and how long you ...

You can use ReVision, available at the Propellerheads site, it's a ReWire capable QT player. It's not perfect, but it helped me with most of my commercial work of the past year. I'd still love to see Live be able to import a QT movie directly and have perfect sync. That said, there's a lot of ills I...

I am not Robert, I respect Robert and what he has to say about audio. However, I know and trust my ears, and no amount of audio theories and mathematical facts can tell me that I'm imagining things when I say that there's a clear difference is sound quality. Forget the one file only test. No, we're...
