Dude, I cant verify it, but ive been reading around and theres strong floating around that the MB/MBP will feature the duo 2 core processors by "the holiday/thanksgiving period". As a Brit, this means mid november for the US and around christmans itself for UK. If what Ive read is to be be...

To be honest with you, people I speak to say you wont need to go 64 Bit for a couple of years, if you want to stay with your current OS. I guess that at some point software will be released thats written for 64bit and so youll obvioulsy need a 64bit OS and capable machine to run the latest versions....

Stale bread , I think Fatrabbit is refering to duo 2 core, instead of duo core which is what the current Macbooks and MBP are using.... Id like to bring this thread to your attention http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2150369#2150369 Basically 1 of the guys has told me that the newer duo...

fatrabbit, thats what Im talking about. I want to use it live primarily, and then take notes on lectures etc. My current laptop is a Hench 17" beast and so Im not going to lug this on the tube everyday!
So in your opinion, macs are better for live use?

hey, thanks for that Unknown Wanderer , thats exactly the kinda thing I wanted to hear. 8) Just out of interest, what kind of latency are you able to acheive whilst running that many MIDI tracks? Do you find yourself raising the buffer size to compensate for dropouts a lot, or is it much better than...

FWIW, my research has left me baffled as to the best course of action. I really feel for Pitch Black, having read through the other posts and seen what hes had to do to get a working set up. Frankly Im pissed that I cant use my multiface, because its solid as a rock. The other card Ive got is a Tasc...

Good shout Pitch Black ! Man, I dont really want to be going out and buying another soundcard. Especialy as I got my tube-preamp recently to compliment the lack of one on the multiface  . Foresight eh? Who'd have it? I guess thats why im asking if its worth it, to take advantage of other people...

Is the educational discount you get when accessing Apple store through your institution network better than if you just go on the store via your home machine? Doing the latter right now, the cheapest Macbook only goes down to £705. BTW, What i'm going to do (to save myself £120) is to install the 2...

Interesting you should say that though, because my computer absloutely hates going above 50% cpu usage. I get loads of freezes and cursor disappearance etc. I heard a few months after I got my laptop that the Intel Dothans, which were new at the time, were much better at using all of their processin...

I was definately going to get 2Gb ram inside my new machine. I can just about afford to do this because we get a nice fat educational discount from apple at my Uni. Do you guys reckon it'll out perform my PC laptop though? Because otherwise, its not worth me really forking out the money ill need for...

A very specific question for MacBook/MBP users...

Hey there, Im currently a PC boy, have been for many years now. Ive just started University and as ever everything is totaly mac-based here. My question(s) to you is this: Will 'upgrading' to the latest Macbook/MBP be worthwhile for perfomance with regards to Ableton Live? Obviously Ill be looking t...
