I'm worried that people might misinterpret what Alex said and think the Applescript GUI beta is not a valid workaround. It works great, even if it is not an ideal solution (as Alex pointed out). I edited the script a little bit to try and make it easier to understand for non-Applescript people (i am...

I've discussed this with the big green muscle guy before, but I still have to give two thumbs up to the behringer fcb1010 midi foot controller for looping instruments you hold in your hands (so like, anything besides keyboards or a lone kick drum). I use it with my Moog Liberation and it works great...

jMax maybe?
If you're running Live on a Mac, you could use a Max or jMax patch to do this. Use MidiPipe or Midi Patchbay to connect the virtual output of jMax to the midi input of Live. Of course, creating the jMax patch is easier said than done, but it doesn't sound like it would be impossible from what you've...

except...
except that for some "strange" reason Native Instruments only got it to work in OSX...
whatever, I would love it if it would work on Windows too, I'm just excited that it is a function which is beginning to ship in applications.

latency
I'm guessing that since the latency of the native core audio is so low on X, it should be fine syncing any other devices to it without having to break the bank on an expensive multi I/O solution. I don't need the finest DAs money can buy just so I can preview a mix in a pair of headphones, the headp...

Traktor Core Audio Multi-Device Support
Version 2.1 of Traktor which just came out supports multiple audio devices (OS X only). So you can preview using the headphone output on PowerBook while sending the master ouput through a USB or Firewire device. http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?products_us How sweet this will be when Ableto...

Send recording
YES! This seems really crucial for me... I like to play old monosynths and harmonize different lines together during performance.... if I could record the sends than I could combine the different samples together for easier triggering.
