Video game porn aside, imagine a custom keyset for Live. There was a recent posting about a guy who wanted to tear apart a USB keyboard, spraypaint the keys, and put it back together as some kind of controller. With the ZBoard you'd have the ability to make visually easy controls for navigating, lau...

Why only two remote controllers?
Say you have more than two remote control devices. What then? How does Live recognize controllers MIDI-wise? The manual says Live merges the incoming signals. I'm assuming you can keep your two remotes from stepping on one another by using MIDI channel assigments. I have an Oxygen8, a UC33e, and an ...

ZBoard custom gaming keyboard
Check this out: http://www.zboard.com . I bought one for my wife because she's a World of Warcraft fanatic. Each time I looked at it, I thought "wouldn't this be so perfect for Ableton Live?" It's essentially a customizable modular QWERTY keyboard on steroids. You can snap in customized ke...

What are your laptop specs? Have you tried adjusting ASIO latency upward? What is loaded in your projects? I hate to sound like your aunt Tillie, but did you read the optimization section in the Live manual? Just checking. I for one am always overlooking the obvious. I tried Ozonic AND the FW410 on ...

I just set up a footcontroller as follows: 1: select/arm track (pressing again toggles arm on that track). 2: trigger clip (within selected scene) to toggle recording 3: stop clip. 4: same as 1 for track 2 5: same as 1 for track 2 6: same as 1 for track 2 7: next scene 8: prev scene 9: launch scene ...

I have been pleased with the latency offered by the Firebox, although I haven't got any hard figures. The latency settings in the Firebox control panel are listed in milliseconds. This seems unusual to me, as most other ASIO devices I've seen allow you to adjust the buffer, which then results in a p...

I just set up a Behringer FCB1010, and I used MIDI controller messages exclusively. I ran into trouble using notes. Once a note is assigned to a control, it is no longer a note. That means when you try to play the note on a synth, it will instead trigger the assigned parameter. It occurs to me that ...

Cue Monitoring: pre/post fader?
I've discovered some seemingly odd behavior with the cue feature. I have an .als file set to cue instead of solo. I have the cue output set to 3/4 on the master channel. When I select a track to cue, adjusting the fader on the track does not change the level on the cue output as it does on the maste...

I just got my Firebox yesterday, and I have to say it's pretty awesome. I had tried the M-Audio FW410, and it didn't work at ALL. Their tech supt said it was an IRQ conflict. Well, everything on my laptop seems to use IRQ11 (at least video, USB and 1394), so I returned it. ANYWAY... The first time I...

MIDI sysex recorder software?
I am in need of a program that can record/send MIDI sysex data. Apparently this sort of thing is a dying breed these days, but my Behringer FCB1010 would really like to have such a software for a companion. I am usually good at finding stuff on the web, but this time I'm stumped. Any recommendations...
