Kilroy - thank you! at last someone has picked up on the frequency response side of this discussion, as opposed to considering headphones either intrinsically good or bad. Thanks for the heads up on Senn HD 650's - I tend to mix a little too bright as it is, these probably wouldn't do me any favours...

hey, thanks again for all your input. Ok, so now I know what's you all think is good, but now I'm very keen to try some out! Like monitors, everyone's gonna have cetain preferances with their cans, right? so I'm not too keen to go on recommendations alone. Does anyone know anywhere in the UK, or any...

thank you very much, tons to help me out here.
As for the Open / Closed thing, I don't think recording vox with the same phones will be too much of an issue, the main thing is to have something that sounds relatively flat to my ears just to get a good mixdown.
thanks!

Recommended Headphones for Mixing?

Hey all. Later this month I'm gonna be moving into a smaller flat, it's not a cardboard box or anything, but it means I have to economise on space. I seriously doubt I can get my fostex pm2's + stands in there and keep it comfortably spacious, so I'm looking to get some relatively flat response head...

High Five brospeh!
finally, someone else on this forum man enough to swallow their pride and admit live has an iffy output. Yeah, the high mids do sound weak. To master in it is a joke.
Its a great tool for knocking up ideas in a flash, but it lacks fidelity.

Yeah, viruses are lush, I loved playing at one in a local store - fucking well expensice though, I guess a 2nd hand virus b would kick. Nord's are also great. A love the sounds a mate of mine gets out of them. I've heard a lot of 'electro' sounds come out of a Nord, asd well as some very soft and at...

Hello 'funky shit'... it sounds like you're very much jumping into the deep end! Brave certainly, depending on your ears, it may be foolish! Change your software, ableton and pro tools LE both have poor output algorithms (pro tools can sound like a poor tape machine). - Sony Soundforge sounds good, ...

Recommend me a hardware synth!

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a digital hardware keyboard synth to replace the softsynths my band is currently using live. At the moment we're using several different softsynths, changing patch between them using the instrument rack chain, however it does seem to be a little tempremental, occational...

instrument rack chain - multiple instances

Hey everyone, I'm just tweaking my bands live set for the synth player. We're using the instrument rack chain to manually switch between synths and presets. At the moment, she's having trouble jumping up and down several patches at once in time for the key part, so I was thinking about arranging the...

Yeah, the sample rate was the problem... the CD convertion from 48 to 44.1, reulted in added spikes. I guess most burning apps don't have a sophisticated Sample rate converter. Shows me for exporting everything at 48. Duh!
Thanks for your help!

hmm... Inspecting the Files, I see that the WAVs are 48kHz, not 41.1 ... will this make a difference on the burn?
I'm really stumped on this

HELP! what's going wrong with my burning to CD?!?

ok, so I''ve been burning my demo to CD, and I've gone through a sizable pile of CDs. However, listening back to the CD and the original WAV file, the CD sounds crushed at first. Then I ripped a wav and compared them. The CD ripped file did clip in many places. What the hell is going on here? My ori...

anyone know a good logic user forum / site?

Hey, I'm trying to get my head around using Logic Pro, and there are a few things I'd like to put to other users. I consider this forum to be pretty helpful and very active, so I was wondering if anyone out there knows any popular logic pro user forums or sites?
I'd appreciate your help.
Thanks

Yeah! 'over there by the beefburgers,' courtesy of Vic and Bob's Mulligan and O'Hare... I was wondering if anyone in the world ever get that. thanks for the info on the chains... shame they're not as clever as I'd hoped. I guess it just means that I'm gonna have to do some hardcore automation. hey b...
