defragging etc.

the best defrag utillity for OS X at mo' is Micromat Drive 10,

if you purchase b4 31st dec 2004 and register software online---you will get Tech Tool Pro4 (for os x) free.

you can get it via a download from Micromat website, as time is short to qualify for the offer.

heres something odd, the drop outs seem to occurr more quickly if you use a mixture of bit rates in your samples / clips, which got me thinking..... i've run the same basic set 14 channels of a mixture of long and short clips using only 16bit wav ,only 24 bitwav versions and a mixture of 16 and 24 b...

changing tempo

here u go, the 'moving tempo' you are experiencing is very large so some problem there. BUT you will see some movement in tempo (plus or minus approx0.4bpm @130bpm) as the resolution of midi time code self corrects itself for non-rational numbers (x.333333 recurring etc) by rounding up or down to th...

audio drop-outs

here's an interesting one. Create a new user and desktop specifically for live on you powerbook, Set up and check all your basic default settings/drivers for software and hardware. Now run your 'set' , tried this to test out a new external hard drive and got a performance boost of about 15% and NO A...

What you've got is a problem in midi/audio in OS10.2.4 Upgrade to 10.2.6 and reinstall any drivers for audio hardware... The western digital hrd drives also can display power probs when used in external caddies.....some transformers in external boxes can drop voltage as much as 30% meaning the drive...

it's a good bit of software, and if used creatively is a very powerful tool..too many people use it as a 'ptich fix' package, but can potentially be used to play with pitch the way abelton "plays" with time. Seen the two packages being used in real time rewired into pro tools HD rig and as...

rewire to PT le

I've had same problem, can be overcome if you max out your RAM...and it is a bug in PT rewire implementation...a similar problem can happen with reason when sending a lot of rewire channels into PT. Maxed out my RAM to (1.5GB), and problem disappeared...I have an 867Mhz quivksilver Mac and can get 2...

audio drop-outs

Use a firewire hard drive for audio/samples...
Glyph net drives are good (or any 7200rpm, 8mb cache firewire hard drive)

This should get rid of 99.9% of your problems

here's an idea for u guys-----
why not use imaginative use of panning to achieve your goal, remember auto panning can set up an moving template for solos and outputs etc...stop thinking so laterally about output limitations....its software to play with (the best kind of software IMHO) :D

midi interface

hi there, I've used a number of midi interfaces with live and none have caused any major problems, the Midiman USB midisport products have all proved to be the best value ,if you are on a budget----and the MOTU USB stuff are also good but proportionally more expensive, ---the only ones to avoid are ...

live--live

OS X (10.2.3)
very stable....
the itunes tip is good...even create mp3's of tracks (left chann-mono mix of your track, right chann- click track) to use as a replacement track until live reboots.

Will be using live on tour soon and will report back with anything interesting

recall of track activation, when loading a session

All I Want Is,
recall of track activation, when loading a session
to enable me to recall input/arm tracks when loading a session
for live performance with a full band.
I'll be mixing down 16 channels of instruments/voices and adding up to 16Live tracks, hopefully
