Re: OT: Quiet PCs

Yeah, very nice, but the Sonata Plus is just a bit smaller, has PSU built in and is cheaper.

Re: OT: Quiet PCs

I just built one for a friend- not for music- but is quiet as. Antec Sonata Plus- comes with Earthwatts 550w power supply.. Gigabyte 4850 Silentcell. I put an Arctic cooling 92mm fan on the front of the case- this dropped the heat on the graphics card by 30degreesC- that and case fan only need to be...

Re: OT - Alternative to the Ipod?

Maybe try a Zune 120- they are getting better reports on the sound quality side. I have a 160gb ipod classic- i had a 5.5gen 80gb- the sound is brighter on the classic yet the bass is a bit weak, they exchanged Wolfson DAC's for cheaper ones. The Zune still use Wolfson DAC's. ipod has battery life n...

$189- US upgrade price? That for me is $285- Aud. This is way too much- I have spent over $1100- on Ableton, and now people are getting Live 8 Suite for the same price I paid for Live 5! I feel insulted to be honest. It's a great upgrade, but there will be Max for Live that will be more to shell out...

I have an acer travelmate 7720g which is fantastic. the latest models have dual 2.5ghz cpu's which are beefier than mine. the 5720,s are the same, just smaler and only one harddrive. the Vista business models come with an XP downgrade. I think the biggest seling point is the build quality- it has a ...

That's the one I'd go for! Looks great. You can't get, and don't need more ram with that one, obviously. If you got a model with 2 gig ram, you can put it in yourself- just slots in, without voiding your warranty. I know, coz I asked Acer about mine. There is actually some law that says you can put ...

I just checked that site- I would recommend one of the 5720g's with a faster cpu- a t8300 or t7700- the t8300 has less lvl 2 cache but i don't know what difference it will make. it is a penryn though so should be a bit more efficient and cool. If you are using xp, you should not need the extra ram, ...

I have a Travelmate 7720g. I am running Vista with a Echo indigo DJ soundcard ( that is why I went for the Travelmate- pcmcia slot). It has a t7500 - dual 2.2, with 2 gig ram and I am having no issues at all. I got 54% in the live 7 performance test. I think it is a great lappie, very solid- and I e...
