in the loop window look for the 'set' button near the start flag section, just assign that to a midi note.

I assign that one, as well as the 2 'set' buttons for loop, I also assign the 'loop' button and the 'follow' button.

with those you can bust through loops pretty quick with little mousing.

Some arpeggiator tips

For what it's worth I've been loving Live Five's arpeggiators, thought I'd share some tips: Tip 1 - 'Following chord changes' Put different arps in different tracks Track 1 - bassline - slow arp at like 1/1 (1 note per measure) slight movement on it Track 2 - midi source is track 1 - use a chord arp...

vinyl skips, even a slight skip will put them out of sync.

simplify things, learn the features with midi loops (the DJing tutorial is great) then go back to vinyl recordings.

the beat matcher isn't perfect, it can require some adjustments but it's not all that hard to pull off.

with live and reason you can rewire them together then ANY audio source in Reason can be routed straight into Live. Each time you create an instrument in Reason, Live adds that instrument to the drop down box of inputs for every audio track. So, there's really no reason to make audio files from Reas...

in their eyes electronic music = drugs = no rights = easy moral victory = public office = money = penile compensation these are weird times, this shit is for real. most (all?) people who make the laws don't get the culture, they WILL NOT support it if they don't have to , but they CAN and THEY ALWAY...

I'm bumping this topic because I LOVE Live, I have vinyl turntables and want to go to CD so I can scratch over my own beats and random finds. I scratch, beat juggle and generally enjoy abusing wax. Is there a .vst and controller combo out there or on the horizon that will work with Live? I'm in 'sav...

if you want to scratch and beat juggle are external decks are the only way to go? Is there anything Live compatible (controller + vst) that works as well?

good artists copy
great artists steal

Electronica provides a unique chance to come up with original ideas through 'happy accidents' but for the most part, original thoughts are extremely rare.

Then there's sampling... done poorly it's pretty pathetic, done correctly it'll break your neck!

A place to take notes on projects

how about a notepad where you can write notes for a project?? I have dozens of projects, each with unique quirks, it would be nice to have something that goes into the .als file where I can leave notes to myself on the project. Which outboard synth has to be set to what patch, for example.
