Re: Drums (or percussion) using Operator

I make most of my drums with Operator. It's fun and your track will have more "YOU" in it. Start off basic and just make sure the delay is short and most anything will sound percussive. A short deep Sin wave is going to sound like a kick A short noise wave will sound like a snare A short n...

4 pin unstable

Hi, I've been using Ableton for 8 years so this is humbling and it may not even be Ableton specific but I started out on a lap top back in the day on an M-Audiofile interface. I had a 4 to 6 pin firewire but it would randomly cut out and I would have to reboot the sound card (used to be so annoying)...

6 Core AMD... 27 ms of latency?

My singers complain that there's an ever slight latency and I have to move the recordings to sync them after... it effects performance. I have a powerful PC, I've got a Focusrite Saffire 10 in/out. I tried using the 'driver error compensation' in the 'preferences' menu to get the latency to '0' but ...

Latency when opening project on a different computer

Sometimes I want to take a project from work to my main studio at home. Whenever I do this, the whole project always starts a whole bar off. In other words, I hit the space bar and the clips start playing a bar later. Even more annoying is when I try to lay vocals over there's a delay in the microph...

Running VST on Second Computer

I've read a lot about syncing via midi but I'd like to use a second computer as a vst host. I read that Cubase has a "VST Link System". Has anyone figured out a way to use the processing power of a second computer to host vsts in Ableton?

Where can I donload Chord and Scale Presets?

Is there a more extensive packet of chord and scale presets for the chord and scale midi effects?

For example, it would obviously be great to be able to just drop in "phrygian" rather than looking it up and plugging it all. Or a chord preset pack with lots of voicings.

Re: Using Volume Slider Without Changing Automation

That's too bad, I like to visually see the mixer, like a traditional mixer. Suppose I could do the automation with the utility.

Using Volume Slider Without Changing Automation

I use automation on the mixers volume to create details in arrangementview but when I go to 'level' the track in mixer, I have either delete the automation or highlight the whole track and move it up and down in arrangement (which isn't as accurate at all). Is there a way to move the overall volume ...

Help Using Spectrum

I know there has got to be a way to leverage spectrum. I read the Ableton instructions on the features but I'm not exactly sure how to use and apply spectrum. The chart doesn't seem dramatic enough for me to be able to say "Oh... ok I need to notch the bass here" I searched the forum. Is t...

Looking for an Eq referrence chart?

Been staring at the Ableton eq for nearly a decade but when I'm not in front of my computer I seem to forget at what Hz things sit in the mix. I'd like to provide more accurate advice when out-and-about. Is there an eq reference chart that illustrates the Hz range of where parts of a song generally ...

How Do I Get a Relatively Uniform Volume On All My Tracks?

I am seasoned with creative production with Ableton but just started getting into mastering my own work. With the introduction of the limiter, it is difficult for me to decide how loud a track should be so that it's relatively similar to other commercial recordings. I tested my track yesterday on my...

Does anyone know any good triangle players, songs or solos?

It dawned on me that the triangle is one of the least understood instruments. After an extensive Google search I haven't found any triangle composers, players, or songs. I did find one triangle solo on YouTube and the natural ADSR of the triangle was mind blowing. Besides the mockery FOO FIGHTER's t...

What this thread was about: Sorry to disappoint my critics but this thread wasn't a sophomoric YES/NO question. It wasn't a press-release where I unveiled startling new updates to either Maschine or the APC. Neither was it a controversial bombshell meant to disparage or insult anyone. No... unfortu...

Wait. What is this thread about? This thread is about how the APC 40 and the Maschine are different products made by different companies for vastly different price points and nobody except chris ott knew that and so he decided to share. He'd share his music, too, if we were a bit less hostile, Rave...
