Re: Guitar through ableton- anybody emulated a sitar before?
As a sitarist and ex-guitarist I have to say that you will not be able to make a guitar sound like a sitar. Maybe to some people you can achieve something vaguely similar or passable but I wouldn't say so. There are so many aspects of a sitar that cannot really be emulated with a guitar, from the br...

Re: ClyphX – Utility script for Live 8 (and Live 7 too)
Is there a way to launch clips by name? I can't find anything in the manual about it.

Re: nativeKONTROL
They not only work and are as cool as the videos but they are cooler. The new MapEase program I am beta testing at the moment is amazing, it is basically a blank slate for you to create your own patches, just amazingly powerful (although if you have a Launchpad I would just get the LPC one, that loo...

Re: Getting started with MPD
If you want basic use out of it there is a remote script for it, choose it in the Control Surface part in the Midi/Sync preferences page in Live. I'm not sure what the predefined assignments are for this, I would imagine the pads for Drum Rack, faders for volume and the knobs for macro. The good thi...

Re: Getting started with MPD
For the global settings, have a look in the manual, it explains what these do.
Generally I would recommend getting this: http://www.nativekontrol.com/NPKLive_II.html
It will save you having to map things and it will work the same in every set you use.

I'm sure Slash loves to run his guitar through a computer, he really seems like a software kind of guy.

Re: Help set my delay/driver error comp settings?
Try the Options.txt thing I wrote, definitely made quite a difference for me (although can't remember if it was the return latency or latency from plugins)

Re: Help set my delay/driver error comp settings?
I can't really offer much advice but I was recently having problems with recording returns and these two things solved my issues:
Add this to Options.txt:
-StrictDelayCompensation
Disable sends on tracks receiving audio from returns.

Re: MPD32 and drum rack mapping problem
I would just get NPKLive by NativeKontrol http://www.nativekontrol.com/NPKLive_II.html
You'll be able to forget about mapping anything ever again.

There is also a beta running of a new product called MapEase, you can make your own templates. I can't even remember the last time I mapped anything.

Re: can't get good workflow with Live
I want my clips to be 4/4, but I want their length predefined before I record them: I know you can stop the recording but I do not want to rely on my clicking on time (or pushing on time on the APC clip launch) to stop recording. Because my timing is bad, and because I anyway want them to be that l...
