George, Convert your MP3s to WAV or AIFF. You can do this by: 1. Open the MP3 in something like Soundforge and then save the file as WAV or AIFF. 2. Get a program that will convert MP3 directly to WAV. You can find a bunch of them by searching for "wav to mp3" on somewhere like downloads.c...

I think AardasS is right on the money. When "mashups" are done well on the fly, you've got to give the person some credit. There's a lot of variables to keep under control and you get a unique end result every time. The truth remains that the audience will have NO idea what you are really ...

Make sure in arrangement view that you have selected a render region. If you have, when your render window appear it will say somelike rendering from 1.1.1 to x.1.1 where x is a larger number.

We'd better put a compressor on him or he's going to clip!

Opening Voxengo Recorder Files

Howdy, I asked a little while ago about ways to record DJ sets (not sets from Ableton) and was pointed to Voxengo Recorder. The recorder looks like it worked correctly as it created a file, the thing is when I try to open the wav in Ableton I get an error message that the wav file doesn't appear to ...

The line up is pretty sick. There's also supposed to be a mystery guest on Sunday that is being kept secret for some reason. The camp should be awesome, it had better be with all the work that's gone into it.

I'll keep an eye out for the fish, sounds cool!

Hey Kenner B, I actually will be recording sets from other DJ's at the Opulent Temple camp. I'm going to be doing a set using Ableton, but as far as I know nobody else is. It's funny, I still get blank stares when I say I use Ableton. The line-up can be seen here: http://sanfrancisco.tribe.net/threa...

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a try.

Does anyone have any input on my other question? Should I just be worrying about keeping the recording level at a level where it never goes into the red and then worry about normalizing the signal later?

Thanks!

Sorry, forgot to mention that I would just be recording a signal coming into live through a sound card rather than doing anything in Live itself during the performance.

Recording DJ sets using live

Howdy, I'm going to be recording some DJ sets at Burning Man and was planning on using Live 5.0. Any quick tips anyone could provide. I especially would like to know that if I record at a lower level where there is no chance of clipping, is all the audio information there where it could be normalize...

I recently purchased the Echo Indigo DJ and have been very happy with it. Like was said before, it has dual stereo outputs where one can be used for cueing and the other for the mix. Rather than doing this though, I use both sets of outputs going into a mixer and then do the cueing from there. Anoth...
