hehe, it's usually a good thing, but I find myself despairing because I can't recreate a certain groove that happened the last time I jammed with a collection of patches on various machines.. usually that happened because one of the synths wasn't properly locked to the midi clock in the first place :)

Nord Modular G2 Elektron Machinedrum UW DSI Evolver (Desktop) Kawai K5000S phew, just barely made synth-junkie status. Used to have a lot more, but things shifted over the years and I managed to trim down to the essentials.. of course, I'm lusting after vintage gear, but I just don't have the space ...

[EKL_001] Deer - Track Delay EP -- free download

We are very happy to announce the launch of a new netlabel out of Scotland: Ekwal. http://www.ekwal.co.uk Ekwal is a new independent netlabel dedicated to making exploratory, minimal techno with an emphasis on live performance. Ekwal's artists approach music from very different directions, but they ...

sure, i'll post some quotes: "Generally, there is no difference in sound quality by design. Both devices are made to sound as good and neutral as possible. You can compare the tech specs, but whether or not or how much of a difference in sound quality you will hear is something only your ears c...

the RME newsgroup has a big thread on this. in a nutshell.. the ff800 has separate ad and da converters, the ff400 has an ad/da converter on the same chip because of available space in the unit. according to rme that will not impact performance (noticeably??). they didn't try to cut costs by using d...

afraid not, that's something I'd like to see as well. there's a system tray freeware app that allows routing midi through your computer without a real host present (JH MIDI THRU on windows), but yeah, on my Mac I usually fire up something like Rax or Live.

I replaced my Multiface with a Fireface 400 as well - it's a fantastic unit. The preamps are very usable and MIDI is a joy too, especially since it's got 2 ports. I send out MIDI clock from Ableton to my Nord Modular G2, Machinedrum and Evolver and especially the G2 sends out a lot of midi data in r...

well I am, but since none of my Live 5 presets show up I can't easily make 1:1 comparisons.. subjectively I'm happy as always to use Operator for a variety of things. the new filter definitely is nice when making percussive sounds with it.. and the new tube saturation plugin helps "warming it u...

so far it's been smooth. I did get some latency I couldn't compensate with midi or track delays when recording midi-synced gear into Live, but that's par for the course, don't have any problems in Logic. I'm sending midi clock out to nord modular and machinedrum on both ports and when playing back e...

I ditched my Cardbus/PCI + Multiface v1 combo for a Fireface 400 because I bought a macbook pro.. despite initial doubts so far I'm pleasantly surprised. I didn't have to change any latency settings and could continue using it like I was the Multiface..

personally I'm either recording on a sharp minidisc recorder or via laptop in the field, but I've been eyeing the Marantz PMD-660 as a solid state recorder.. xlr with phantom power and rugged construction. for mics I recommend the Soundman OKM II binaural microphones. really nice to capture a true s...
