Just realized how unclear that was: I want the arrangment view to record my "last take" after erasing the prior take from the arrangement view. Thanx.

Recording from session into arrangement HELP

Hey - I have many clips that I'm firing off (performing) into the arrangement view. However, I'm doing multiple "takes" to get it how I like it. The problem for me is that the arrangment view only records what I recorded on the 1st take only! So, all the other variations I"m trying to...

Adjusting Levels (values automatically reset)

I work on a track, finish it, then I render to wav and listen to it in a home stereo system (to make sure it sounds okay). My problem is this: when I go back into Live to adjust the levels (e.g., volume, pan, etc.), I always find that the values automatically change when I click certain areas. Can s...

Bruce - check out a program called "vice versa" at

www.tgrmn.com

It is very reliable and very easy to use - just pick the drive (or drives) and pick mirror and you are all set. I run mine once per week and it's perfect.

My firm took on a pro bono case last year and it turns out that it was Ashanti who was being sued by a songwriter who claimed that her camp never paid him for a few tracks on her last album. What's surprising is that we represented the songwriter and won the case for him. What's odd is that her camp...

Nice. Good work. I passed the New York bar in 2003 - I'm an attorney at an NYC firm! :) Nice to see I'm not the only shark in these waters! I do primarily litigation, but I work with up and coming artists on the side dealing with contracts, demos, and licensing issues. You'd be amazed at the fricken...

If you are only using two seconds, do you really need that part? I assume its some type of vocals. Anyway, regarding the copyright issue, technically, you are not allowed to use any part (regardless of how long) without the publisher/artist's permission. Having said that, the issue is whether, in th...

Strategy - I spent some time figuring that *ish out. If you crop a sample, a wav file of the cropped sample will be placed in a folder called "samples" within the saved "project." So, for example, if you open a live set and begin a new project, then hit save. The second you hit &...

Anyway, I had slept on the manual! Actually, what I want to do works great in Live in the session view. Set up a clip to 2 bars (or however long), set global quantize to 1 bar, record quantize to whatever you want, then hit record and that's it. Then simply record your pattern and keep adding...

Thanks kuniklo - I hear what your saying. Using the mpc as a midi sequencer may work well, but I don't want to do that when I have live's midi sequencer. Guru is cool but doesn't let me rock with plugsound pro drum kits etc. So, I want to first try to get the midi sequnecing in live down before maki...

What up - interesting thread. I thought about what I was really looking for: I would pick up a 1K to do all of my midi sequencing. So, I"ll load up my vsts into live and set each to different channels (sampltank, etc). That way, I'll use MPC's midi sequencer (Not lives which it off for me). The...

Good lookin' out Stale - that's what I thought, actually. I use trigger finger to trigger sound loaded into Guru, so I'm playing out the beats ( I never mouse click the notes in at all).

Great help...thanks fam....

Great advice dudes. However, am I missing something here? Isnt' MPC's style of sequencing the same as Guru's? I thought it was - maybe i have the meaning of "step sequencer" fucked up? Thanks for the help... Makes perfect sense, though, what you all said about using the MPC as a midi seque...

Thanks for the headz up guys. I hear all of your points. Here's my thing: currently, I use Guru with Trigger Finger because I prefer working out my beats with the a step sequencer (like guru's). I don't like programming my drums in Live (for some reason, I just like step sequencers). The thing is th...
