Re: changing pitch/tempo on an envelope

When automating the pitch of a warped clip, Live only updates the playback pitch every 16th measure (last time I checked). No good for creating very fast pitch envelopes.

So Live can't replicate when can be achieved in audacity in this regard.

Re: Tapestop (using curve and a delay)

Do you think the guys that made tapestop vst thought, fuck, it its called Tapestop, lets NOT allow the tape start to be emulated. They thought (on some level) 'what I can expect to gain by implementing tape start exceeds the expected opportunity cost of doing so', so they included it. For others, t...

TAPE STOP PLUG = TAPE START PLUG
In fact, the meanings of words, phrases, terms are in flux and are inherently subject to disagreement. Naive definitional absolutism will hurt more than it will help you.

Re: Tapestop (using curve and a delay)

No one said they were gonna help me out bro. I'm aware of that. It's not clear why you felt the need to mention it. The fact that you never used the tape start function doesnt mean it not going to be used eh??? Correct, but irrelevant since my comment was specifically addressed to your false claim ...

Re: Tapestop (using curve and a delay)

It tells me that no one has used and seen how good that tape stop vst actually is. I used to use it when i produced on a windows box. I never needed the tape-start functionality. TOP TIP: Don't assume that when other people's preferences don't match yours, that they're ignorant, or dumb-- especiall...

Re: Tapestop (using curve and a delay)

Kind of highlights the state of play with m4l for me. ie. needs some more professional help. The fact that no one developing for mac has yet built a plug with exactly the specifications you're looking for says nothing about m4l. What it does indicate is that, so far, there hasn't been a strong dema...

I think that a person motivated to do so could recreate tapestop in max for live.

The linked blog post explains that it's another maxforlive device (TapeStop) that clicks. Pitch drop doesn't click (I'm the author).

Unfortunately I don't know of a good OSX alternative (the reason i built pitch drop).

Re: [Share] Pitch Drop

It was a bit of anthropomorphising: you're not causing mischief, but i believe that fallacy is.

Maxforlive.com is the most convenient way I've seen to host the devices I'd like to share. I don't have plans to upload the device elsewhere at the moment.

Ah! it's that old mischief maker; the high redefinition fallacy! This page is instructive: http://www.fallacyfiles.org/redefine.html

[Share] Pitch Drop

Here's a very simple, but potentially useful max for live device. Pitch Drop emulates the effect of a turntable platter winding down. Incoming audio slows down to a stop at an adjustable rate. Re: live.step : feature request

@peboer

Your patch looks like it could be useful for me (im interested in recording into live.step) Would you mind pasting the code for your gateonce abstraction too?

Re: Compressing Kick and Clap together

Are you working with house/disco style stuff, where the kick and clap trigger at the same position? If so, then as well as sidechain compression you could try experimenting with adding micro-delay to one of the sounds, my intuition is that the clap should happen ever-so-slightly in front of the kick...

Re: Sidechain compression tute (live + reaktor)

@theoptimist. Yes, sidechaining is very straightforward in live 7 and upwards.

I wrote a short article about compression (including sidechain compression in live) that might be useful for you.

(just noticed that this is a very late reply!)
