Re: Live 9.1 - VST's taking forever to load
I have a similar spec to you and VSTs work fine for me. Do they still take ages to load even after your pc/laptop has been switched on for a while? I ask as I have a related issue where the first set I load after switching on my laptop and firing up Live can take 2-4 mins to load whereas subsequent...

Live 9.1 - VST's taking forever to load
Ive noticed that after updating to 9.1, VST plugins are taking an exceptionally long time to load.
In some cases its so long that ive killed the program deliberately.
Anybody else having similar issues?
I'm on a windows pc (win 7 64bit) with 12gigs of ram and an overclocked i7 920 at 3.6 Ghz

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
I reverted back to Snow Leopard expecting an increase in performance (teejay let me know if you need an explanation - you need a 2nd computer with a current Snow Leopard installation to do it). I also upgraded the RAM to max since i did the test, and it looks like Live is doing worse in SL than it ...

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
Its clear you have not spent any time testing the two. I have and can confirm Lion is much worse for Audio, just look at the scores in this thread...xzusa8ky wrote:
I think its nonsens! OSX Lion in 64 bit mode are surely better than Leopard to handle audio!

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
Its clear that OSX Lion is MUCH worse for audio performance when compared to Snow Leopard, i'm surprised more people are not worried/talking about the issue. Also, Apple has made downgrading to Snow Leopard impossible for machines that ship with Lion out of the box. This is just so frustrating from ...

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
Seems like Lion has much higher CPU usage than Snow Leopard. Under Snow leopard my 2.0 Ghz MBPro 15 would get about 17-18% usage, now under the same circumstances in Lion its about 25-30%. This means either one of two things - 1) Live isnt fully optimized for Lion yet, or 2) Live is reading the CPU ...

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here
Thanks Cej for redoing the tests. I agree, even my numbers were all over the place with the internal sound card - I wonder why, the older ones weren't this erratic. Anyhow, once I connected an external sound card (like a Saffire LE) the numbers were a lot more respectable. As for your comments on SS...

Updating Live on Windows Machine
Whats the best way to do this, while retaining your library?
Uninstall old version, and then reinstall in the exact same location? - If we do this, we may have to backup unlock.cfg file i guess?
What do u guys do?

Re: tracktor or serato which to buy??
Serato seriously looks like a toy to me. Can it do even HALF the things Traktor can do? (leave alone all) Quantized beat jumps (ala Live), quality fx/routing, extensive looping options, extensive Midi options (truly unlike any other on the market today).. the list goes on and on... And their current...

What about their firewire soundcards/controllers like the Fw1884?
Are those discontinued too?

Re: Does a Mac spend less time thinking/waiting?
Maybe look into optimizing your setup for music computer (?) Definitely ! Any tips? Spybot Search and destroy (dont install tea timer, otherwise excellent spyware app) - Adaware free, conflicts a little with spybot, but both of them together should pick most bad stuff up. - CC Cleaner - great for r...
