Effectively isolating the vocal from the rest of the track
Hi, I wondered if anyone has any tips using Ableton for isolating the vocal track within a song quickly and effectively so that the vocals can be used against a new backing for mash-ups and remixes. I've tried using the EQ 3 and 4 plug ins but I find it very difficult to isolate where the vocals are...

Live 5 support for different time signatures within songs?
Hi, Will there be support for different time signatures in a song so, for instance, will it be possible to go from 4/4 to 3/4 for a couple of bars and then go back to 4/4 and then on to something like 7/8? If this is possible will it be possible to control it in scene view live using, say, a midi fo...

Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to programme the Nostromo device's four way rocker button so that one can perform a graduated sweep on pan and volume controls in Live? I've tried to do this via Live's Key assign in Live but it does not seem to recognise the four way rocker button. If is possi...

Thanks Stew. By PCM you mean Red book audio i.e. a sample rate of 44.1khz? The Sony MZ-NH900 Silver Hi-MiniDisc Walkman lists the following compatible formats: Compatible formats: MP3, WMA, WAV, and ATRAC3 audio and ATRAC3plus and MiniDisc compression format. I suppose the WAV format offers the best...

Handheld audio recorders
Hi, Does anyone have suggestions of affordable (e.g. below 150 UKP), good, handheld recorders that are suitable for recording high quality samples (48khz or better) e.g. live broadcast, captured sounds etc on the go for later use in a home studio environment. Is Mini high-disk up to the job (I've ha...

Hi, Once again a great set of patches--all very musical. Quick question though: I've copied all the .adv patches to the user preset folder on my PC but I'm not sure how to set up the other files in the Zip. I assume I create a folder for the .als files and put them in a content folder within the Abl...

Just wanted to add to the praise and plaudits. I've worked my way through all the presets and the range and variety of sounds created and the richness of tone not only show some sensitive and inspired audio tweaking but also serve to demonstrate the enormous potential of this FM synthe. Keep up the ...

Scratching in Live 4.1?
Is anyone aware of any VST plug-ins that give you virtual control of loops as if you were scratching using turntables? There is also, of course, the matter of interface i.e how much can be realistically achieved with a mouse or a midi controller to simulate scratching with loops. I'm aware of the Se...
