randyh.... sorry man i haven't the energy to debate with you on every little technical thing i say. i didn't say that de-essing would be the end all be all. just that it can help. removing reverb is like data recovery... often it takes multiple little 'tricks' to get the job done. De Essing isn't h...

First off, I really don't advise trying to master your stuff at this point. You should be working on your mixing/production skills at this point, not trying to master anything. It'll just frustrate you and stifle your growth as a producer (I know because I focused on mastering for a LONG time befor...

I just wanted to know if it could be used in conjunction with ASIO4ALL/kx drivers to provide monitoring, recording and main output. I ain't good enough to spend £100's on my hobby... (Double  ) And it doesn't look crap, you meany. Aww, I'm sorry :( I wish I had an extra soundcard I could...

[ how will de-essing help? a de-esser is just a compressor that is only sensitive in the "ess" range (~4k). Compression will not help, so I don't see how a de-esser will, at least not on single-shot samples. -r it might help because alot of the most noticeable frequencies will be around t...

I've just started the tedious task of trying to match the levels & freqs of my library.. everything from 60s R&B/pop to up-to-date hip-hop. When DJing, I want the levels to remain constant.. not having to adjust the le els & EQ when going from relatively low-fi low-volume Supremes to hi...

plenty of "traditional" compressors have look ahead, even ones that aren't multiband. Just look at Ableton's own CompressorII 0ms, 1ms, or 10ms. I really can't think of any traditional comps (theshold ratio etc) that have look ahead other than compressor II. By traditional I meant the typ...

yea, and its wierd that all that latency is in the Loudness maximizer.. Possibly some sort of look-ahead limiting, the buffer size of which is dependant on the program material? yea its definitely look ahead... i'm just surprised the Multiband Dynamics section doesnt induce nearly as much latency. ...

de-essing can help. or if you recorded them in stereo, take out the utility plug and turn DOWN the width, this will make the samples MORE mono, which could help to make any stereo reverberations less drastic/noticable. and no folks, thats not the utility trick ;) how will de-essing help? a de-esser...

All you can do is shorten the decay. Simpler or impulse should work fine. Simpler has more control over the envelope though. You could also try a transient shaper, but all it really does is re-shape the envelope which you have complete control over already with Simpler. Dominion is free if you want ...

I know there are tons of plain old audio rippers for dvds, but I've never been able to find one that would just pull a small sample from one. I don't really want to rip an entire movie to get 3 words out of it. Can anyone make a recommendation for a good ripping prog that'll let you rip a small segm...

My best advice is to absolutley STAY AWAY from USB soundcards. They're trouble. USB wasn't designed for streaming data sources, at least not 1.1 . oh it aint that bad! If Access has fitted the new Virus TI with a USB1.1 connection that can stream 8 channels of 16/48khz, plus midi then i'm sure the ...

The last 2 cells act as a choke group. Limited but it's there. Hit the "link" button while the 8th cell is highlighted and the last 2 slots become a choke group.
