Try Nutchords. Its a little standalone program where you can click the notes you're playing and it will tell you the chord. I use it all the time for that and working out scales. It does keyboard and guitar too.

Re: Tuning sampled kick drums, a necessity or not?
Check 'Flashback' by 2562 for a great example of tweaking the pitch of the drums to match the tune throughout. Really adds something to it IMO (admittedly its the snares and hats rather than the kick but you get the idea...)

Re: ESI u46 XL and Ableton
I've got an ESI U46XL which worked fine on my old XP laptop with the latest Live 7 versions. Had nothing but trouble with my new Win7 64bit machine to the point I ended up buying a new soundcard. Shame because I really liked that little box. Have you tried ASIO4All drivers instead? Might help?

Amen. Got some Etymotic ER-15s custom moulded a few years back now. Not cheap but best £150 I've ever spent. Everyone should get some.

+1 for Security Essentials. Most trouble free bit of Microsoft kit I've ever used to be honest.

Wanted - Live 7 licence
Hi there, I'm still on Live 7 with no plans to upgrade - everything's working hunky dory on my new Win7 laptop and I'm not exactly swimming in cash right now. My band mate is looking to buy a copy of Live so we can both work on the same projects but this means he's going to need Live 7 so we can swa...

STFU festival - Glasgow
The STFU collective electronic music machine is rolling into the Captains Rest, Glasgow this weekend and I'll be playing on the Saturday as part of Mundo Mono - 3 piece Laptop/Live electronic drums/Bass act. Its a bargain £2 entry for five diverse electronic acts each night. Looks pretty good to me ...

Another fan here. Funnily enough, I was just watching a great BMX video that uses 'To Build a Home'. Great use of the song:

Re: Win7 x64 & Novation Gear...
Just bought a Sony Vaio E-series with Win7 64 bit. Running a Remote SL (old version) and a launchpad with Automap Pro with no problems. Only slight glitch is that the MIDI port names change if I plug the Remote into a different port (or USB hub if I'm using some other bits and bobs) so I have to go ...

Re: Launchpad demo on Ableton.com : How to?
I reckon he just manually mapped the bottom buttons to clip launch and effect on/off buttons in Ableton. Not sure how that sends the info to change the colour of the LEDs though.

I've found Nvu to be quite useful. Free, simple and clean interface, easy to edit html as well as WYSIWYG editing if you need it.

Re: Rage against the machine for christmas No. 1
RATM appearing this morning on national BBC Radio 5 Live to promote the song. Worth listening to the end when they get cut off for swearing whilst performing the song - what did they expect?! They claimed RATM agreed to not swear. Did the producers not take ANY notice of the song title. Very very fu...

Re: OT: Cycling ... as in... riding bikes... as in... bicycles
Ah bikes. Probably a bigger drain on my finances than music gear. If I get a ride in and make some music in a day, then that day has been a good day. Here's my big bike for winching up and flying down proper mountains although I've got a road bike, BMX, XC bike, hack bike etc... http://lh3.ggpht.com...
