my computer case has a sticker for everything i think is 'cool' (and was fortunate enough to get a sticker for), and I have my ableton sticker right there next to my "race face" sticker
For me, it comes down to pride in the stuff i use w00t

what the heck.. this is a remix i did for a buddy of mine out of Vancouver BC - quick little dealio, hasn't gone through any post prod unless you count one pass through Ozone :) http://mixlogistics.com/Aklimatize-El-Uno-mixlogistics_rubdown_mix.mp3 sort of a housey reinterpretation of a broken beat ...

i still use Live 4, only because all this talk about the orange dot/transport/scrubbing issues have sort of scared me. I like my workflow EXACTLY as it is thankyou very much, and if that means i have to forego track freezing, so be it. I really should download the demo to try it out tho... just have...

solved
OK I found a solution on these forums. -- deleting the preferences.cfg inside:
C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Ableton\Live 4.1.4\Preferences
got rid of the issue - had to reconfigure everything but that's whatever.

'A serious system error' message on open - v4.1.4
this is frustrating.. I have this .als file i've been working on and all of a sudden whenever i try to open it up, Live gives me this serious system error message, telling me to resave under a new name. Here's what's happening: 1) open up set 2) Live loads.. and loads.. and loads 3) message appears ...

i too was introduced to live via warez, and was so impressed ended up buying it -- however, unlike you, i was not aware of any sort of corruption issue, and continued to play with the older files i had messed about with before i bough the real version. I can tell you straight up that nothing has loc...

Hmmmm... Perhaps you should go review that Live 4 manual a bit more. ;-) Live only loads clips to RAM if you tell it to do so on a per clip basis, other wise audio data is streamed direct from disk. In the case of frozen clips and or tracks, an actual PCM audio data stream (wav/AIFF) WILL be writte...

ROFL thanks Mr Yellow, i'll have to try that 5dots - i'm sure that works, but personally, the idea of using a VST merely to transpose a track does not justify the CPU it would require to do so -- That being said tho, suppose whether it's internal to the software or from a plugin, it's still gonna ta...
