Running a Live workshop. Advice?
Thanks to a series of events, I'm being asked to run an Ableton Live workshop. Any advice on running workshops for Live? Any advice on running workshops?

You can do this very sweetly and easily with Korg's Legacy Cell or any other VST that supports Program Change MIDI messages. Just use the program/bank selection feature on MIDI clips. P.S. Operator, Simpler and Impulse should really really really be updated to support Program Change messages. If the...

you can just program the clip to mix the wet/dry to 100% dry. This only work if the clip knows about the effect though (ie, you created the clip with that particular effect on it already) and even thats sometimes sketchy. I've noticed that you often loose clip envelopes when moving live clips around.

I've started keeping two versions of my tracks. One version is the 'working' version, the one I started on and built the song up with. This version would also be the one I'd work into an actual studio release of the track. The other version is one that fits into my live template. I bounce quite a fe...

Re: thoughts on sampling
Create your own sounds. Sampling=laziness and lack of talent. If the individuals who created the original recordings were creative enough to create those sounds that you are after, you should be able to do it too. If you sample you shoudl not call yourself an artist. Thats my two cents. Also, if yo...

live clips as clip envelope templates
Anyone done anything like this before? I was thinking of making a bunch of envelopes that I like in some bare-bones live clips (on like the clip gain parameter or something). I could then drag one into an empty track and copy and paste from that clip whenever I wanted a particular clip envelope on a...

Re: Huge CPU saver!
I remaster each of my tracks so they sit well back to back regarding volume, EQ, etc. I stumbled on a tip that saves lots of CPU. If you continually use the same track, why waste CPU complex warping it every time you play it? Now, when I remaster the AIFF, I warp it at the same time. So, the render...
