Re: Max for Live - first impressions?
To be fair, Ableton may not exactly have much wiggle room in the pricing. Remember, Max itself is the intellectual property of Cycling74, and there are a lot of people who have paid them top dollar for Max/MSP. Imagine how many pissed-off Max users there are going to be if Ableton is suddenly offeri...

Re: Looper's Overdub blocked by clip envelope. MIDI Map crashing
I can confirm Per's experience of the MIDI Map crash.
I recreated those steps to set a MIDI Map entry and *bam* Live completely evaporated on me. Definitely a bug.

Update: Well, I've managed to pull together what may eventually turn into one working solution. I didn't want to do it, but I finally fired up Plogue Bidule and hacked out my own MIDI Looper. I don't know why I've had a mental block against Bidule in the past, because this was a whole lot easier tha...

Here is a preset for the Arpeggiator Midi Effect. Kewl! I'll give it a shot annihilator. Thank you!!! I thought I might have also seen a rack around someplace that splits multiple notes between different lines in the rack (although I hope my spotty memory isn't getting a Live rack mixed up with a R...

you can build your own midi delay line inside Live using Note Length objects. Thanks for the tip, Machinate and corygilbert! I spent a bit of time playing around with the Note Length object, but it doesn't seem to do quite what I'm looking for (unless I'm overlooking something, which is *entirely* ...

a delay fx?: You mean like a MIDI delay? Yeah, that's on the right track. I know that there were one or two hardware MIDI Delays produced during the 80's (Akai used to produce one) but that was during an era when people were actually trying to push the limits of MIDI. However, there's no MIDI Delay...

MIDI "Live" Looping & Velocity Feedback...?
(apologies for the pun in the subject line; i couldn't resist... ) Hoping somebody can help me out a bit here, and that I'm merely missing a function rather than walking down the dreaded "feature request" path. I'm trying to implement Live Looping using Ableton's MIDI clips. If you're not ...

I agree. I'm using Augustus Loop as well, and running into similar issues. It makes sense that there would be smoothing functions for externally-generated MIDI clocks. However, In-Time and Augustus Loop are reading the very same time-stamps as Live, which are passed across the machine's internal bus...
