I had that trouble with a brand new external-hard-drive quite recently.
Same issue.
Different brands, though.
It's your Exernal HDD, i highly think.
Try a different one or buy a new one.
That worked for me.
I shipped back the one that wasn't working.

Hello, I was wondering. Is there anyway to get the best gain for the live-vocal-mic before the feedback ???
