Effect Racks contain absolute file references

This may end up turning me off of Live. I want complete control of what goes where, when and how. If I save a rack with samples in it, I want the damn samples in the rack, that's why I saved it that way! Not a blank saved rack with a reference to the samples, which will become non-functional if tho...

How do I reference the samples?

Wow, over a hundred views and no comments about it? thanks guys! Edit - except for Rogue of course! you're welcome dude, let me know if you like. =) Perhaps because, like me, they loaded it and couldn't hear anything :) If you drop the adg file (from the Finder/Explorer) onto a Midi track, Live pop...

Absynth + Live 6, fine for me

on the mac it crashed ableton for me, (checked the logs) so I'm going to wait it out (removed it in the meantime) I just bought Absynth 3 (during that cheap 10th anniversary period), and have been using it with Live 6.0.1 since the latter was released. No problems at all, with multiple instances of...

Variable quality

This has been discussed a few times on this forum, but I know it can be difficult to dig up relevant threads. I've had a Pro88 for about 18 mths. I now think it's great. At first, I found the action too firm, but now it feels just right. Clearly, I've become accustomed to it. However, the first two ...

sorry if I'm an ignorant but would like to know how are you able to decide where to run diff. applications... I mean how yuou chose the processor for each app.??? Is it possible? just wondering... I'm on a single processor  I can't choose. I just rely on the operating system to do it :) I jus...

Re: "Tricking" Live into using multiple CPUs - Mac-specific

I ran a quick experiment with Live, Rax, Jack and the IAC driver. MIDI from a Live track was routed to Rax (via IAC) and drove a soft synth. The audio output of that soft synth was routed (via Jack) back to a track in Live. It worked fine. So it looks like this approach could work in a more general...

i just bought ivory and i'm knoked out by it, ive not practiced so much in years. ... but be warned, it is a resource hog. it like to be installed on its own drive, so you need to budget for that, and at 640Mb you have less than the minimum system requirement. The same happened to me. I just LOVE p...

Seconded...

There is only one that cuts the mustard: Synthogy Ivory.

There can be only one

Synthogy Ivory. 10 velocity levels per key, release samples, soft-pedal samples, modelling of sympathetic resonance, almost every parameter can be tweaked (e.g. proportion of hammer noise), 40GB library (Bosendörfer, Steinway and Yamaha). Simply breathtaking. Previous version had 8 velocity levels. ...

I had some spare time and made this simple report. People who submitted a range of cpu utilization I used the average number. Nice work! ...except... maybe you should use the peak values, seeing as that was what was originally asked for. I reported a peak of 37% for a dual-core 2GHz G5, but the min...

Seems about right as my dual core G5 2.3ghz bounced between 30% and 34% which is only about 10% faster (even though the cpu is 15% faster). Hi Warpus, Maybe you wanna edit your entry to "30% - 34%", or just "34%". AdamJay asked for the peak value if the CPU meter bounced around....

if rick's peaked at 37 for a dual 2.0 and bigbadotis was 41 for a single 2.1 IMac that's an interesting result - it seems to show that the dual core is slightly better for live despite Live not being built for it - no where near double though! Yeh, I was wondering about that. Maybe it's the 1MB L2 ...

Re: Quad G5 + Live 5

I was simply wondering if Live 5 will simply chew-up a 2.5Ghz process and allow my softsynths to eat into the other 3 cores? Have a look here: http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=183724#183724 I did a simple experiment to see if it'll be possible to run my plugins on the other CPUs. Seems ...
