I was under the impression that Steinberg owned Reason...
-therefore they would never allow vst/audio recording in Reason...
-would want you to buy Cubase instead... not compete with it...

I'll never understand why anyone cheers at someone playing a record of somebody else's music. IMO, it's mindless lemming hero worship. DJing ain't exactly rocket science. It's all about playing somebody else's music. Put on a decent track, wave your hands in the air, and the music does the rest. IMO, lack of beatmatching is basically irrelevant to everyone except the other DJs in the crowd. That is so wrong, as beatmatching is fun...

This weekend I saw FatBoySlim DJ'ing on the TV for the fourth or fifth time... I've never experienced him live or ever wanted to after seeing him on the TV the first time... Me and mate had used Technics 1200's for 10+ years but were astonished at how much better the vestax decks were.. Rock solid with zero tempo drift, they are a delight to mix with...

a lot of the MIDI Box guys trawl through ebay and second hand shops looking for quality knobs, fader caps etc...

yeah pocket electronics seems easy, but as I remember the cost went stratospheric with the amount of buttons/faders/etc on my designs...

£80 for 16 pots x4 = £320

yeah, I even ordered all the electronics needed for the MIDI box project...
I wanted to build my own, but the biggest problem [weird] was finding quality push buttons [at a good price]...

best option so far, buy a dj mixer and carve up a x-sessions....?
