sure loops, but man its going take ages to build... latest problem [and I'm still fazed by the lack of options] is finding nice pushbuttons. Clear versions in perspex or silicon that can have custom graphics/legends. With the cheapest [so far] being £7 then times that by 64 its insane money. Have st...

@AdamJay interesting, but I think I disagree in some areas... In the context of using just Live, there should be no risk involved in beatmatching ie all the warp markers sort this out. I guess that for most skilled DJ's there should be no risk involed in beatmatching, performing, its like riding a b...

I use doteasy for websites, £40 domain reg and hosting for 2 years [no adverts, not too slow]. I also use the LAME encoder for mp3, its a free open source encoder that a lot of people reckon is the best because it is tweaked all the time by coders... There should be an option for Lame in itunes. The...

@robin & Chris Cowie Yeah, that visual is a bit out of date now.... It was not meant to have any audio, just MIDI, but be less that say £250? I have ordered the components to do the www.ucapps.de thang...[gulp] But I still reckon one of the most important things [for me] is to get that mouse/tra...

@MarkH you gotta take a look at www.ucapps.de, its daunting at first but you can't beat your own custom controller. :) You can start to add controls with unique functions, in unique positions that could change the way you perform.... As to people looking for a mini controller, sod it, I want mine to...

@saddam whosayin? Interesting, I will have to take some time looking at the [PC] VST options. Thanks :) Looping like CD deck is a good starting point, but I dont know if they are able to change the parameters in realtime [like the example shifts from 1beat, 2beat, half a bar and bar loop while also ...

There is a german made kit, "Disco something" costs about £50. Basically it is a tall plastic tub that you fill with a special mixture of isopropyl alcohol. You then attach the record on a spindle, dunk it in and rotate. There are wipers that clean the record and the base acts as a drying ...

I've given up searching for a controller that suits my needs... So I've just ordered the parts to build my own, gulp.... A lot to learn, but it seems straight forward, so far... The more I think about it, the more I think bespoke is the way to go... My pennies worth: X-sessions - crossfader in total...

@Chris J The only way I could make it obvious [to some] is with a video clip! Then they might see that its just one audio file, manipulated at anytime, not a whole pre-planned stack of clips... :) I dunno mate, all I remember is booting up Live 3 and seeing this program graphic "Live - instrume...

Hi saddam whosaying? This I believe is what me and Chris J are getting at: http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11742 have a listen, remember the realtime way it was [badly] performed, and it does not include any crossfade tricks, which could really start getting crazy.... I have not found a...

Realtime loop example like a DJ

Since this loop thing keeps coming up I've bashed out a [very] quick demo that shows the power of being able to control looping functions in realtime. See what ya think...? IMPORTANT: -THIS IS IN REALTIME, NO PLANNING, TOTALLY ON THE FLY -IT CAN BE PERFORMED AT ANYTIME [can't stress this point enoug...

I get where you're coming from saddam whosayin? And it would let you extend sections of a song on the fly. But it goes back to Chris J's point of "pre-planned" and "un-live". It also make jumping around a very tricky/head spinning process... :) I've done a very quick example in a...
