highest mega pixel count and highest Optical zoom is what you want to look for You must be KIDDING me. 2 megapixels is enough for 10x15 cm (4x6") printouts. 6 mp is enough for A4 enlargements. Remember kids, more pixels crammed into the same tiny camera sensor doesn't mean better image quality...

so pretty much for the mpd32 i dont need to buy a program like max/msp or nativekontrol to assign random things? i can just edit the templates how i like out of the box because of the faders/knobs? but on the other hand i can't turn it into a poor mans monome or other creative things of that nature...

If you can get your hands on a Nikon D40 ... It's cheaper than the D40x, it's 6MP (images large enough for enlargements, less noise at low lighting conditions that the D40x)...

+1 on padkontrol, if you can live without aftertouch.

edit: just noticed the PSU question - my padKontrol came without a power supply (powered through USB), but power supply is an option.
