indeed, or phasing (although both effects have LFO on how much they detune)

chorus is actually another good suggestion, as the idea was to make the sound more dense

cheers

can't try this until I get home from work, but here's a posible suggestion: play the same sample in two or more tracks, each transposed by the same semi-tones, but vary them in one or more ways such as: -change the Detune a few CTs -change the offset just a tinie bit -use different but similar rever...

thanks!

Gee, I'm overwhelmed by all the kind replies. I will indeed subscribe, but am a big fan of instant gratification. CM is quite ubiquitous even in rural Canada, so I was a bit surprised that here in the eMecca they didn't wrap currywurst with CM. Anywhoo, apparently timing is an issue as well... sever...

[OT] Computer Music magazine in Berlin?

Please forgive the (only) slightly off-topic post. I've recently relocated from the wilds of Canada to Berlin (I'll be here for one year). I can't find Computer Music Magazine (espcially the Essential Guide to Live 5) anywhere! I've had some close calls ( Sound on Sound and Future Music ), but no su...

two kinda unrelated funny bits

in the early 90s (Loolapaloza, Toronto) Trent nearly broke my hand... he was throwing frozen beer cups into the audience. I made a casual catch, but it really hurt. Good thing it was my hand and not someone's head. During the same show, the lead singer for 'Living Colour' did a wireless mic dash thr...

midi preview?

midi preview?

It'd be nice if I could configure a generic instrument to use that plays midi clips selected in the preview pane.

Is that possible (or just dumb)?

EDIT: yay! It's in!

For me this idea is definately a formulaec crutch. That's because I'm an idiot. I still think this process has huge potential. I've been using the arrangement clone idea (since Live 3) to learn about arrangement. It's a great compliment to the standard listen and count bars approach. I imagine that ...

ya mon, been having fun wit dat. Also, I've been learning guitar licks by looping the section of interest (easy with the blues, for example), and slowing the tempo down to my skill level (really really slow). BB sounds freaky at 70bpm. Then I sneak back towards the original tempo, a little every day...

IMHO, the bigest bang for the lowest amount of cash would be an Oxygen 8 from m-audio. I see some on ebay for under 100 (btw, what is proper slang for euro?)

lol; clear as can be!

My first thought was, "well, he makes it work... why not?"

Just as an experiment I dropped the same sample into the groove I am presently working on.... perfect fit. DOAH.

Too much fun.

instrument changes in midi files

I'm posting this here instead of emailing abe support because i'm an idiot and would rather be publicly humiliated than to bother the abletons with a totally stupid question. Sometimes I grab a midi file from the internet just to play with a song and "Live" it to my own thing. Sometimes th...

uninstall ???

My sleep patterns have been F*ked ever since I bought Live 4... maybe that's your problem. :D I tried a melotonin tablet once, but it made me tired but not sleepy (if that makes any sense)... I had no choice but to lie down and lament that I wasn't asleep. Couldn't sleep... couldn't do anything else...
