dual core cpu or not?
Hi all, I'm thinking of buying a new desktop, and I'm trying to decide between the Pentium 4 630 chip (3.0Ghz) and the new Pentium 4 820 (2.8Ghz, dual core). I use Ableton with a large number of power-hungry vsts (Reaktor, Guitar Rig). I know Ableton itself isn't multithreaded, and so won't see any ...

mixing multiple sample rates
Hi all, Having replaced my old SBLive with an Audiophile, I was thinking of switching from 48khz to 44.1. Will I have any problems working with old Ableton projects that still use 48khz clips when I record new clips in 44.1? Any other possible issues with the switch? Any compelling reason to either ...

Usable CPU load?
A general question for people: what CPU% on Live's CPU meter do people reach before they start getting any clicks and pops? I find that I start getting glitches when the CPU reaches 40%: is this normal? I would have expected higher...

Audiophile 192?
Has anyone had any experience using the relatively new M-Audio Audiophile 192 interface with Live? This is an update to the old Audiophile 2496 which includes balanced IO and 24-bit/192Khz. Sounds great, but I'm always a little leery of drivers for a new card.

Recording a fixed number of bars
Hi all,
Pretty basic question: is there any way to set Live so that when you press record for a clip, it automatically stops recording after a set amount of time, say 1/2 bar, 1 bar, 2 bars, etc?

CPU load before glitches start?
Hi all, Just curious: what sort of CPU load (as measured by Live's CPU meter) do you guys get before your audio starts to crackle and pop? At 5 msec latency, I start to get glitches right around 35% or so, which seems kind of low. This is all under XP Home, with an SB Live using the kx drivers. I'm ...

second that
Just wanted to second what reiky said: it would be very helpful if the setting of the 'flip' button could be saved. I actually use this plugin as a safety net for when I'm playing with lots of feedback: it cuts out the sound once it's hit an unhealthy amplitude. I use it on just about all my project...

I've also used some of the workarounds that people have mentioned, but like psilosly, I'd really like a better way. In my particular case, sometimes you have a loop that's playing every bar, but then you want to change it to play every two bars, on-the-fly. Right now, my only solution is to create a...

Re: Anyone doing this -Live as guitar rack patcher/controlle
What I'm still looking for (along with tons of others probably) is a really capable (EDP-like) VST looper plugin. What does the EDP do, that's so special? I'm not quite up to speed on hardware looping :? Andreas What's different about most hardware loopers is they'll let you continually record on t...

Re: Anyone doing this -Live as guitar rack patcher/controlle
Can't vouch for the laptop/audio card part of your setup, but Live 4 and the fcb1010(i assume that's what you have) definitely make a great guitar combo. The signal routing should fit all your needs, and scene changes with the fcb1010 are no problem. If you want to use Live like a hardware looper, y...

Not exactly what you were looking for, but you might look into a Zoom PS-04 as an extremely portable way to get some tracks recorded:
