I'm pretty sure if you are getting offered a version of Live for that cheap, it's either:

1) Very old.
2) A lite version.
3) Pirated.

I saw her on Carson Daly the other night. The camera did a sweeping pan around behind her and I saw Ableton Live running on her laptop.

I'd go for #1 or #3. Truth be told, I think playing a silent audio clip or midi clip doesn't take any amount of CPU at all... Anyone done a test?

Take a look through the PCR manual. I just set mine up to control 'Stop', 'Play', and 'Stop All Clips' via MIDI CC messages and saved the mapping as part of my Live template set.
