Well, I don't like to be self-indulgent but I taught myself how to play piano when I was 5. And when I was 13 I picked up music again....All self-taught. Which basically means I can play a few instruments but I am really not good at anything! I started recording about 5-6 years ago and became addict...

Does Live ever crash?

Well, this is a simple question. Since Live is built as a performance tool and a lot of Live users use Live live (did I use too many live's in that senstence?)...How stable is it for you guys? All things being equal, has Live ever crashed on you guys or does it just chug along fine? I know everyone'...

So Live is not linear ? I'm confused , it sure seems linear . So what limitations would I be stuck with ? I'm on a DP 1.25 w/1GB of RAM , Dual Barracuda Seagate 80GB 7200RPM drives . I had to reread , no crossfades ? Ugh Live has a crossfader but you cannot crossfade the way you can with PT, Logic,...

LoopyFruit,

The book isn't out yet. I emailed Chad and asked when we could expect it. I know it's sometime in the fall but hopefully he can give a specific month. I will try and find out.

mic-minimal,
I Can't wait for the book either. It should be a very good read.

david122 and painseeker,

What is wrong with you guys? I see this all the time on this board. Everyone is so defensive and has to have the last word. So you disagree...so what? These arguments are so petty.

This is a reply from Chad Carrier(the author of the new book) Thank you all for your feedback regarding the upcoming Ableton Live 4 Power! book. It seems there is a discrepancy between what readers think this book should be and what the book actually is. It seems that many feel that the book should ...

WOW...I posted this thread over a month ago and no one cared. Yeah I don't know about a G3. I have a 500mz G4 (OSX 10.3.4) powerbook and it works fine. I am getting a dual 2.5ghz G5 soon so I will be able to use a lot more instances than i can now. It's a cool plug-in!

Frank, I totally understand. I am very excited about the possibilities of Live4 with my new Mac regardless if it supports dual processors or not. I know you guys are working your asses off and we, the users really appreciate it! If I ever make it to the Ableton Headquarters for a visit, ALL DRINKS A...

Frank, Thanks for the clarification. Now the question becomes....WHEN can we see Live supporting dual processors? If I can get great performance from my upcoming dual 2.5ghz now, then that means when dual processors are supported that might keep me from needing to upgrade my computer for a long time!

The Live4 demo is based on Live 4 Beta-7. I'm sure the full version of Live4 doesn't have this problem. I could be wrong.

dirtstyle, Quick question. I remember when you did the test you said the Live meter was near 100%, correct? I emailed Ableton and they said that the Live does support dual processors but one is used for audio and the other is used for the GUI. They also informed me that CPU meter is for audio proces...
