Re: Ableton Live 9 new features: what we want to see
What a load of old arse. Most of those requests are basically 'I want live to be more like logic or cubase', and as for the iOS 'necessity', does that guy have the faintest idea what he's jabbering on about? I'm sure an app would be lovely, but lemur, touch osc etc all provide plenty of functionalit...

Re: using omnisphere in a live setting
I would do it by putting omnisphere onto a midi track, and then creating a number of further midi tracks with 'external instrument' devices on them. Route each external instrument to a different midi channel on the input of omnisphere, and each audio out from its relevant omnisphere output. You migh...

Re: Sound only plays for one beat when using the piano roll key?
I think thats just the way it works I'm afraid. The piano roll keyboard is primarily there to audition pitches while composing, rather than auditioning or creating sounds. The alternative is to either use a midi keyboard (or drum pad, or something similar), or to use your computer keyboard (provided...

Only 4 touch points? That's a bit pap.
It does look lovely, but I suspect it will be beyond the financial stretch of most of us mere mortals.

Re: Roland SH101 Analogue Synth - Help please!
I use a novation super bass station as a midi-cv converter. Costs about as much as most dedicated converters, and you get a synth into the bargain!

Re: Bass is too loud, tips???
Did you create the bass sound yourself or is it a preset? Lots of presets are designed to show off the capabilities of a synth without any other sounds around it (how often do you demo a synth either in a shop or from a demo download with other sounds?). This means that many presets are far to 'larg...

Re: Dull sound while bussing through another track.
Yeah, I'd do it on a send. If you send all of your channels except your kick drum, 100% to send 1. Set up your sidechaining compressor on send 1 with the kick channel as it's input source, and then set all of the channels bar the kick to 'sends only', you should (in theory) get the desired result. N...

Re: Intro bar
I'd put a time signature change at the start of the arrangement, with four bars of 1/4 time sig, then a change back to 4/4.

Re: Sampling advice needed...
Yep, those are the ones. The way the time stretching algorithms work is, I believe, by adding extra cycles of waveforms from the sample to extend the length of the sample, or remove cycles of the original waveform to reduce the length of the sample. When only small numbers of cycles are added/remove...

Re: Sampling advice needed...
Try and use as high quality samples as you can. Always try and use lossless (flac, alac, wav) file formats if you can, as the higher quality audio you put into the warping engine, the higher the output quality will be. Also make sure that you're using the right warping setting (for full tracks, I fi...

Re: What is the best mic for ABLETON
To be honest there are many many many different microphones available for many many many different purposes. The question you ask is a little like asking 'what is the best jumper for keeping warm' without saying what climate you will be using it, what fashion you like, what materials you are allergi...
