Re: Maximum SysEx length?
2 things to look out for: - Zl objects have limits that need to be changed. I think default is 256 or 512. - You need the latest version of Max, it has a fix for another Sysex length issue. https://cycling74.com/forums/max-8-1-4-released Max for Live: increase sysex buffer to match Live's limits (25...

Re: Why remove eq eight and spectrum from non standard ableton
Not 100% sure if this would work with Lite versions, but Live does have some backwards compatibility features for upgraded devices. For example, presets made with the previous compressor will load that old compressor. EQ8 got major overhauls in the last upgrades, so its basically a more high-end ver...

This is a bug and a fix is in the current beta. It created undo events every time a new touch was registered.

Re: Controlling external hardware with ableton´s Max4Live LFO
If I place the speedlim object between midi in and midiout objects it does nothing. Is this the expected behaviour? Yeah. If an input is connected directly to an output, then it is the throughput. No need to put a speed limiter there or it will delay data coming from clips and controllers. While it...

Re: Controlling external hardware with ableton´s Max4Live LFO
It would need to be added to the Volca device in this case. And all other devices that output CC's in a similar way. In these devices you'll find an object like MIDIOUT or CTLOUT. In most cases it'll probably be sufficient to put a [SPEEDLIM 5] object as the last object leading to MIDIOUT or CTLOUT....

Re: Controlling external hardware with ableton´s Max4Live LFO
How exactly are you assigning these to CC's?
You can put the speedlim object between the output of the LFO and the input of the MIDIOUT.
I looked around, but couldn't find an MFL LFO that specifically states it's timer based.

Re: Controlling external hardware with ableton´s Max4Live LFO
The speed of the LFO is irrelevant, because it is updating at a fixed rate. (Sample Rate) You need to limit the output rate. The speedlim object is generally used for that. Or you could skip using an audio controlled LFO and use one that works on a timer, which would be another way to limit the outp...

Re: Controlling external hardware with ableton´s Max4Live LFO
This is an expected result. If we could send CC's at audio rates, we'd be doing it all the time. You're running up against the speed limit of MIDI 1.0. The receiving hardware device starts buffering and dropping messages, so it seems like the hardware is running behind. But neither the connection or...

Re: Microtuning of internal instruments
Also increase the Pitch Bend range of internal instruments. Because most native instruments don't have the +-48 semitones range you need for most tuning techniques.

Re: Wavetable - scale envelopes with velocity
I agree that we should be able to modulate the scale of individual envelopes.
There's a workaround, it takes some extra work but it does give you more options to fine-tune.
Assign an envelope to the filter, then map all envelope parameters to velocity.

Re: Undo issues
Some max devices cause constant changes due to being internally modulated or something and this can sometimes affect the undo feature as live sees it as constantly making a change. This is a max issue, not live. No this is about non-optimized M4L devices actually. This can absolutely be avoided. Yo...

Re: odd Push Preference options
Hi Jamie, This is normal. Push is 2 separate MIDI Devices rolled into one. If you press the User button, all MIDI coming from the device will be sent to the Push User Port. Push is also a Control Surface, this is referred to as Live Mode. Ableton automatically connects Push as soon as it is detected...

so 12 years late it is still not fiexd ? You'll need to be specific. This whole thread is a collection of different issues, some of them user error and others using cheap/bad/outdated MIDI interfaces. Are you experiencing issues with sending notes to external gear? If so, what gear and which MIDI i...

Re: Push 2 not recognised by Ableton 10
Keep in mind, its normal to see 2 ports. On Win it'll be "Ableton Push 2" for the Live port and "MIDIIN2 Push 2" for the User port. If you see something like (Ableton Push 2 #2) it might be time to reboot. I think in that case something grabbed the port and loaded a second driver...
