Re: Push 2
After reading from everybody how wonderful this trade-in-offer is, I would like to be a little bit logical about it: If you really want to enable young students to make music, wouldn't it be a better idea to show them how they can do it with a 20 Euro-Midi-Keyboard and free software (like Studio On...

Re: M4L Stability
Hi all! Happy to report that I've been working with 9.2 and Max 7.0.4 for almost a month now without a crash. Reminder: When I joined this thread I was in a real bad mood, some of my Live-Sets had just disappeared into crash-loops (couldn't even open them anymore) because of M4l. Several crashes eve...

Re: M4L Stability
I ran into a strange issue today with the new maxurl. Worked on a track that contained no M4L at all. I used the CodeFN42-Midi-Plugin "Chordz" (it's like the Ableton "Chord"-Device, only better) to trigger Chords with one finger. It was routed to a Grand Piano (Ableton Pack) on a...

Re: M4L Stability
Hi all, We have some news on this front regarding the recent Windows crashes . Cycling 74 have supplied us with some potential fixes. To test the fixes, the attached maxurl objects should replace the maxurl objects in the respective Max 7 folders. Worked for me. I opened a set that contains 12 inst...

Re: M4L Stability
not sure if this helps but after the last round of windows updates m4l is now completely unusable on my windows 7 64bit system. before, the workaround (load m4l midi device and wait for 15 to 30 seconds) worked quite nicely and i was able to load almost all of my m4l devices. now after the updates ...

Re: J74 Progressive updated with a new device.
Hi! I have both Progressive and Bassline and I think they are both really useful tools that can do much more than "just" generate quite complex clips in linked-mode. Bassline, for example, can also be used without Progressive (linked to a "chord-detect"-device on another track) a...

Re: M4L Stability
Hi Everyone, Rory here from Ableton HQ, I've been tracking this problem for some time now and hopefully I can shed some light on the situation. We are very much aware of the Windows crash, when loading a Max device into an already large project. This is known and filed in our bug backlog with top p...

Re: M4L Stability
All I know is: I never had major problems with several other DAWs in the last 10 years. I did everything you suggested (before buying the computer/software). I even did that with the machine I bought before the machine I use now. … What you call "whining" might be important information fo...

Re: M4L Stability
Hi! Just wanted to let everybody who's interested know that some of the workarounds pointed out in this thread have worked for me last night. Especially this one: Pull an empty "max midi-device" into an empty project and let it "sit" for a good 30 seconds (thanks to Fab an Eanna)...

Re: M4L Stability
That's interesting. I would ask you for further system specs, but we both know that we will never figure this out. If I change "this" and still have problems, then I might have to change "that". It's a loop, endless. All I know is: I never had major problems with several other DA...

Re: M4L Stability
My Tip: If you need something like Max for Live (only working), buy Bitwig. Yeah, I'll apply that tip on my non crashing 9.1.7 / 9.2b7 installation. Sure. Excuse me, I have to finish this track now that has 7 instances of M4L devices. You're on a mac. If you would have read some of the posts on thi...

Re: is Max for Live the wrong answer to the wrong question?
From what I've seen so far (as a Windows 7, 64-bit-user), M4L doesn't answer any questions. Not even the wrong ones.
It just opens up A LOT of new questions.
Seems to be the wrong method with the wrong technique.
As Dave said, it's just completly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9RjVT5eM-E

Re: M4L Stability
Hi! Don't know if this is the right way to reply? To scheffkoch: I wanted to rant and then help. My tip is at the end of my post. I don't think an update to 9.1.8, which only adds control surface support for two keyboards, will solve M4L-problems. I believe my crashes started with Convolution Reverb...
