I'm guessing (don't have an mx200) have you checked that live doesn't have it's midi ports open? Thanks for the suggestion, but how do I do that? Going into Live's preferences panel, I've got it set up with four MIDI control surfaces - my Frontier AlphaTrack, Edirol PCR-500, M-Audio Axiom 25 and Tr...

Using Lexicon MX200 as hardware plugin with AL7
I'm trying to use a Lexicon MX200 multi-effects processor as a hardware plugin for Live 7. My audio interface is MOTU's new Ultralite-mk3. I've installed Lexicon's MX-Edit software and connected the unit to my PC via USB and to the audio interface via its S/PDIF ports. Operating the MX200 as a stand...

Removing Live Sets and associated data
If I want to remove all the Live Sets I've created from my hard drive, what do I need to do? I know where the folder is that contains the Live Sets, but it seems to be far too small to hold all the associated data - audio recordings, samples, etc - so I assume that must be stored elsewhere. Basicall...

LE Stereo Packages in Session Drums - what are they?
I've just taken delivery of the Session Drums set for Ableton Live 7 and I'm installing the Live Packs from the first DVD. I notice that there's a folder "Stereo Packages" and have installed all of its contents, but there's also a folder called "LE Stereo Packages". What's the se...

when you hit a pad on the drum racks, do any of the pds light up? No lights on the pads, no. I didn't actually realise they were illuminated, so I guess that'll be nice when I eventually get them to work. Is there any chance that someone could post a screenshot of the settings they're using in AL7'...

MPD32 pads won't trigger anything in Live 7.0.7
I got my new Akai MPD32 today but I'm having some trouble getting the pads to trigger anything in Live 7.0.7. Whereas my M-Audio Axiom 25's pads automatically trigger the eight drums in Live 7 kits or the eight most important drums in the kit of any VSTi (such as kits in Kontakt 3), nothing happens ...

Live 7 and Kontakt 3 freeze-up/crash problem
I'm using, or trying to use, Ableton Live 7 with Native Instruments Kontakt 3 as a VSTi, but have repeatedly experienced system freezes that cause both applications to crash. This happens most frequently when I'm switching between samples in Kontakt 3. Typically, Kontakt will freeze up - i.e. its VS...

Wrong disk 2 with my Ableton Live 7 box
Updating on my previous post, it does indeed appear that my boxed edition of Live 7 contains the wrong second disk. I've been given a registration number for Live 7 and for the Essential Instrument Collection, but the disk I've been sent is for Session Drums, which I don't have a licence for. Is thi...

Where's the Essential Instrument Collection 2?
I've just bought Live 7, having previously had the M-Audio Enhanced Lite version installed. Because I'm a student, I bought the education version, which is supposed to be the full thing, rather than just an upgrade. It's cheaper that way. Anyway, I understood from the Ableton website that boxed edit...

top left of the window is a headphones icon, that might be off. also, the playback of that stuff is controlled by the CUE knob at the far right towards the bottom, make sure it's going out a valid output and is turned up. Aha! So that's it. Thanks for the tip. Those icons are rather small, aren't t...

Previewing sampled loops in Live 7
This is probably one of those situations where the solution is staring me in the face, but perhaps someone could help me out with it anyway. After I first installed the Live 7 trial version, one of the things I really liked about it (and which made me order the full version, which I'm expecting with...

The method you described above is the one that works best for most people - and it has the advantage of keeping your ableton plug-in folder 'clean' and neat with just the plug-ins you want to see. No real need for Ableton to change it IMO . Well, apart from that little hiccup, I've been very impres...

To update on the above calamity, I think I've got the problem solved now. After I created the shortcuts to other plugin folders, though perhaps not directly because of that, Live 7 failed to launch properly, repeatedly running through the same plugins during the launch process and declaring that som...
