Metronome / Cue options
Greetings, I wish Live had options for different metronome sounds - e.g., clave, cowbell, high hat. The default volume for the metronome is way too loud for me - I have to turn it down every time before I use it (there is a work flow issue). Perhaps Live could "remember" my preferred cue v...

Deleting nonEssential Instruments to free hard disk space
Greetings, Basic question: If I delete an unwanted instrument from under "Instrument Rack," does that delete all associated samples? I see that I can delete the *.adg file by choosing the instrument in the browser, CTRL-clicking the name, and choosing delete. Will that also delete all asso...

Names for MIDI ports
Greetings, It would be helpful if Live would pick up the names of MIDI devices from Audio/MIDI setup in OSX and/or allow the user to enter a name for each MIDI port. The in the "MIDI From" and "MIDI To" drop down lists we'd see the names of what is attached to the MIDI port, rath...

UC33e, Remote SL
Greetings, I have had great luck with the Evolution UC33e (from M-Audio). Live recognizes it as a control surface. I've also used a Novation Remote SL - the automap feature on that puppy is very slick. Lots of controllers on the Remote. I like the simplicity of the UC33e - very robust. The Remote is...

Simplify, Simplify. Simplify
I use the UC33e with Live. Works great. Sounds like you're making life more difficult for yourself than necessary. Live can recognize the UC33e as a control surface (under MIDI preferences) with great results. Use the MIDI learn function in Live to set up your controllers to do whatever you want. Ca...

Remote SL - slick, but complicated
Hello - I just got a Remote about two weeks ago. Got the Zero - then sent it back to get the 25, which I have been very very happy with. They keyboard feel is quite good. Automap is very slick - but has required some tweaking in my brief experience, and doesn't feet really solid as a rock. When you ...

Sending midi to particular channels of software instruments
Hello, How can I direct midi to a particlar channel of a software instrument in Live? When MIDI signals are routed to an external synth or module, Live allows us to assign the MIDI out to whatever specific midi output channel we want. So we can take MIDI input from one keyboard channel one and send ...

Thanks for your response. I actually did what you suggest: I went into Garageband, loaded up the instruments of interest, and turned off the effects (Garageband typically was showing just a little bit of reverb). When I turned off the echo and reverb, the instrument sounded dry - no reverb - but did...

I'm making some progress. For the percussion samples that I'm interested in, changing the filter parameters makes a huge difference. Lengthening the sustain, release, and decay improves the sound a lot. The sounds are still not as luscious as they were in Garageband - but much closer (some are usabl...

Quality of Garageband Instruments after import into Live 6
Greetings: Garageband instruments can be imported into Sampler in Live 6 very easily, but they don't sound nearly as good inside Live as they do inside Garageband. Is this a fixable problem? Anyone know how to fix this? If anyone has succeeded in making the Garageband instruments sound as good insid...

Yes, you can import the Jampack instruments.
Hello - yes you can import the JamPack instruments from Garageband into Live for use by Sampler. I am in the process of evaluating the Live 6 demo and just did it, using the directions provided by the Live manual. Just do this: In the Live file browser, navigate to the Garageband Jam Pack instrument...
