Re: USING 9 upgrading to 11 with 10 20% off deal
I don't know about the jump to 11 from a content/learning perspective, but as someone who took advantage of this discount to upgrade to 11 from 9, I can tell you I don't notice a lot of CPU difference in 10 on my old PC.

Re: Projects are getting deleted
I've noticed project files from my backup folders in my recycle bin, but never the primary project file.
You're not by chance opening up the backup folder project files, are you?

Re: Your tips for chords...
To find the key, or scale of your melody, look at the notes in your melody, then google musical key signatures and find the ones that fit your melody's notes. If you have no sharps/flats, you're in C Major / A Minor. F sharp is G Major / E minor, yadda yadda. I - V - I is only useful once you have t...

Re: Heavy Guitar Distortion
You could also try amp sims. Guitar Rig if you have Komplete. Amplitube 4 and a few sims and pedals from IK Media is free if you download the custom shop. Disadvantage is custom shop is a bit of a pain. But, it's free.

Re: Live v9.5 performs better WITHOUT Multi-core support!!
My guess is, this is very situation dependent. There comes a point with multi-processing, where the benefit of using multiple CPUs is actually a detriment to overall system performance. At times, it actually takes more time managing what goes to which CPU and how much of it, etc. than it does to jus...

Re: Solid Cyber Monday Mixing/Mastering plug in deals
I've used MCompare. It's nice. I keep forgetting I have it though.
Once I get to the mix stage, I like to make a copy of my previous mixdown plus save a version of the project and A/B compare that way.

I use Audio tracks to actually play music along with the rest of my tracks.

Re: How do you record your analog synths?
I never DI, just straight from synth to Babyface or ADA8200 inputs. You have the gain inputs on external instruments and my pres.
If you're struggling getting enough volume however, you may want to try a DI box since adding gain at the pre would just increase the noise floor.

Re: Using Arturia Beat Step Pro with Push ??
From a strictly MIDI control of Live, I wouldn't get a beatstep pro if I already had a Push.
But, if you want to sequence other things such as external drum machines, external synths, etc. then the combo would be pretty tight I would think.

Re: Musical Genre
I wouldn't worry about the genre personally. There's too much overlap between genres/sub genres of house these days. What one person calls deep house, another calls techno, another calls house, etc. I'd call it deep/tech personally, but not a big thing. Check out attack magazine's online website for...

Re: Why only keyboard players need 61 key controller?
In all honestly, when I'm on a 61 I feel far more creative. Yes, the span of your hand is approx an octave. For One note. Chances are you'll be moving around the keyboard. Do you want the bottom one to be a C0, C1? Maybe even C2??? I'd say that optimally, one would be most free to jam with two and ...

Re: Why only keyboard players need 61 key controller?
Are you going to be able to make fatter/wider chords with your hands on a 61 key vs a 49 key keyboard? Probably not. My thumb to my pinkie can reach about a tenth interval. I'd say unless you're playing with both hands - chords in the left and melody in the right, odds are 49 keys would do the tric...

Re: Starting in music production
Worst thing about learning from youtube is it's not interactive, so you could very well be picking up bad habits with no one there to tell you that's the case. Not to mention, you only learn from youtube what you seek out to learn and not necessarily the things you need to learn at a certain point t...

Re: Possibly get some feedback on my mix down?
Why do you have to mix loud? I never mix loud - I mix at very comfortable levels, maybe even too soft and only on occasion take the levels up or down for a quick check. You should IMO always reference professionally done stuff against yours, but I think it becomes all the more important when you're ...
