My thoughts exactly. It might require some refactoring or a design overhaul of some components, but still this is a bug that needs to be addressed. Even if in a point release, but certainly in version 7.

As I read on the web the updated AU spec from Leopard allows a plug-in to have multiple MIDI outputs. This would allow the use of MIDI AU plug-ins for all kinds of use cases: step sequencer, remote control of external MIDI devices, etc. Please consider implementing MIDI output for AU plugins in Live...

What workarounds? I searched the forum but couldn't find any. Could you give me links to them?

A MIDI-controllable step sequencer would be very handy!

I already wrote a post in the Feature request forum and an email to Ableton support a couple of months ago. This is a must, even if it delays the release of v7.

I agree, Ableton should go for an all-inclusive solution with effects covering everything from sound design to amateur-level mixing & mastering. I'm not asking for the same quality as expensive third-party plugins, but a decent limiter and sidechain compressor would be nice.

This is a real showstopper for all Novation Automap Universal users.

I just recently ran into this limitation with Automap Universal, Cakewalk Rapture and Live. I emailed the tech support, but they couldn't tell when this will be fixed.
