did you try to disable the wlan net work card? That sometimes does strange things to audio too. And the obvious thing to try is to increase the audio card buffer size: try a higher value. To exclude general problems of your hardware, try a different host/sequencer and load some samples and effects/i...

does it also happen when not using any vst plugins? because i found some plugins to heavily screw up graphic performance when their gui is opened. just asking to rule out different sources of performance killers. I also got major problems with lives graphic engine. Live does not do cpu spikes but cr...

make sure all battery saving applications from the manufacturer of your laptop are disabled/uninstalled. then install speedswitchxp and switch it to "max".

the stability of 7.0.2 is really good (like the latest 6), i did not experience any crashes whatsoever. It would be a great version, if not for the ultra annoying performance issues, i get lot of dropouts, stutters and clicks when running live with low latency buffer settings .

http://www.mediafire.com/?95dyjeidb1m apologies in advance if i fucked the test up somehow. a 12 bar midi clip played at 110bpm, using absynth 4 and a preset called 'apportioned piano'. rendered in 6 & 7 at 96hz 32bit then, both files are taken into a live 7 session and given their own track, w...

Just tried the the new offical 7.0.2 but that didn't fix it (not that i expected it to). What's really killing me is that 7 has so many great enhancements and runs ultra stable, but I can not make use of it because of the aforementioned problem. Here is one example of where this issue makes 7 useles...

i suppose you are using live 6 or older versions, since it has been implemented in Live 7. This was of the major improvments for me, a real time saver :)

normally you should be able to do exactly this by simply increasing the "threshold" in the compressor. This tells the compressor to react on louder signals only, which is exactly what you want. The alternative way would be to lower the volume of the sidechain signal, but depending on your ...

hi slirak, thanks for responding! Yes, i know speedstep can be a major contributor to all kinds of performance problems. I definitly made sure that it is disabled. I even ran SpeedswitchXP on this workstation (had Speedswitch running on my laptop for years). But that didnt change anything. The bios ...

Is the dvd drive connected via an internal usb controller? I saw that implementation on some notebooks. Maybe the usb controller of the dvd drive shares an interrupt with the firewire controller. You can look this up in the device manager (-> view -> sort ressources by connection). Which brand is th...

hi timur, thanks for your extensive response! Set your Plugin Buffers to 256 (for best CPU/latency efficiency) or 128 (for less VST jitter). Anything below 128 will increase CPU load dramatically, anything above 256 will result in audible jitter (actually even 256 will do that, but less audible). At...
