Re: An idea about full-lenght albums. What do you think?
the word "album" is so 70'ish (at least in italy) thats exactly my point. we must save the album! why? i don't disagree with you, but just playing devil's advocate i think there's a beauty in creating a musical experience which lasts longer than a single track quickly consumed onli...

An idea about full-lenght albums. What do you think?
Hi guys, i was wondering: isn't it ironic that dj's share their albums online on 1 single audio files - ie as a single coherent entity - while albums of original music always come in separate tracks? What about also offering albums as 1 audio file, just to make the statement that albums also are an ...

Lofi + hifi = Birdrider
Hi guys, here are 2 albums entirely made in Ableton Live, but mastered in a hi end studio, all analogue signal path. I kinda like the rawness of homemade productions coupled with the expensive gear of pro studios the project is called Birdrider, its electro, pop, indie, rock, blablabla http://birdri...

Re: Recommend a mastering studio

Recommend a mastering studio (Los Angeles, NYC or MTL)
Hi guys,
anyones got a mastering studio/engineer to recommend for a "contemporary sounding" indie/electro/pop/rock/blabla project? Any links, online directory?
Thanx a lot!))
Ben
PS: would be great if the studio was located in LA (where i am right now) or NYC or Montreal...

Re: The end of music production as we know it ?
fuck that shit. its all part of the new philosophy of brands "involving people" in some interactive bullshit instead of simply advertising on tv. you should rename your thread "the end of advertising as we know it" its getting too intrusive, sometimes i think we need a bloody rev...

Re: singer/songwriters here?
i started a couple of years ago with the assumption i'd make electronic music. it turned out i quickly got into "old school" song structures, with lyrics, verses, chorus and stuff. we all heard so much pop/rock/whatever music, we all have it in us. you dont need prior knowledge... the best...

Re: This device alone makes Max4Live worth it...
I originally got Max for Live for one very specific type of device, but unfortunately have been so busy that I haven't been able to get deep enough into it yet. Luckily Hoffman2K has been busy making very cool stuff though and made some devices that were very similar to what I had in mind, and with...

Re: Tricky mastering question
Get those books by Owsinski, practice, practice, practice train your ear, thanx man will check out ok, made huge progress these last few days, and discovered nice compression tricks. BUT im still stuck with my initial verse/chorus problem. bass is now the main problem one of the most prominent elem...

Re: Tricky mastering question
There are quite a few cowboys out there that will run your mix through some type of preset EQ curve (such as Harbal or Voxengo's curve EQ) set up to music from your genre, and then bang on an L2. This can produce results anywhere from barely acceptable (but louder) to absolute trash. Well his own s...
