I'am interested too, but I also want control Live with the transport buttons.
(Whe I managed to control tempo via Remote SL the transport stop working)

Create an Audio Track and set monitorin to In and "audio from" to the piece of impulse you want to "reapeat". The add a betrepeater in these new track.

Avoid m-audios.
Krk rp6 are too "dark" for my taste.
If you can afford take a pair of Event Alp5.
If not, take the Tascam Vl-X5.

I've got Alp5 and I'm quite satisfied.
Before buyng them I listened to m-audio, yamaha, krk, esi near and tascam.

Obviously that's in my humile opinion.

there's a little workaround I use, but nothing definitive.

It's an old machine. Buy someting newer.

I put in my macbook an Hitachi Travelstar Sata 7200 rpm 100 gb.
I'm very satisfied with this.
