Re: Eight Seperate Audio Outputs?
If you want the music to be in stereo in each room (stereo = 2 channels) then you'd need a 16 output soundcard (ie 8 Stereo Pairs) Soundcards that have 16 analog outputs are few and far between. Why ? Most people with soundcards mix inside their computers I guess.. Most soundcards only have 2,4,6 or...

Re: How Fast of a CPU do I Really Need
A P4 (It must be a Pentium 4) will be totally underpowered for anything other than very basic stuff in Ableton, regardless of RAM.
My P4 2.8ghz really struggled with more than a few basic tracks with effects racks in live 7.
You really need a Core2Duo Processor or better.

Re: The secret benefits of mixing in mono
^^^ No. Read it again. What the article is saying is that you should continue to use stereo tracks, stereo reverb etc.. but to make crtical mixing descisions (ie balance & EQ) in mono first before you start thinking in stereo. Your final mix will still be stereo, but will be highly mono compatab...

Re: Should 'one' use Complex Pro LIVE?
It's timestretching in realtime - and that's what timestretching sounds like. Not ableton's fault.. Well, the clicks and pops are, but not the overall sound.. FYI : Complex Pro uses software algorithms from Zplane http://www.zplane.de/index.php?page=description-elastique#description Exactly the same...

Try automating the pitch contro from -24 to 0 over 16 bars.
Sounds great as a build up type effect.

wow. awesome replies. thanks everyone. @ adventurepants great post. your success with Dell is good to hear about. There was a time when I would say Dell without blinking an eye... It would be nice to think they're acting right again. - other than the latency issue capo-wear-i mentioned below :| whi...

^^^^^ This - check the DPC latency scores (eg google 'Dell Studio DPC Latency') Dell currently have some big troubles with their laptops & DPC latency but they seem to be working on it : http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19279703.aspx?PageIndex=1 At least you can be sure that after this huge...

Re: Not enough memory :((((
Hi, When I try to render my golden piece of music out of ableton, it stops at 100% telling me that there's not enough memory, and I should save me Project and close live :( What can I do except of buying more RAM? I tried to render just half of the track, and then the other half. But also here I'm ...

Re: Ableton Live alternative?
I'm new here and just trying out the Demo version of Live 8. I've heard many good things about Live but I am very disappointed- so far. Firstly the non-standard user interface. I know that I will have to read instructions if I plan on doing "advanced" things. But it took me about half an ...

Re: Live 8, large window = everything slow
I doubt that it's below the capabilities of the chip in the Macbook to do this. I regularly dual screen my HPNX7400 with an external monitor with no issues , and that uses a lowly intel GMA 950 chip. Like you said - this isn't fancy 3-D rendering.

Iim quite messed up on what to do with my live performance files, heres the deal...i bounce down into 4 stems (kick, bass, percs, synths n fx)and arrange them into scenes (similar to toms cosm setup) i insert t-racks in the master channel, load a "mastering" patch i did, jut to raise volume ...

Re: Drum Rack - Loop in time?
Not in a single Cell, but can be done using slice to new midi track. It will produce one cell per transient (@10 - 16 slices for a 1 bar loop)
Select the audio clip containing the drum loop and choose 'slice to new midi track'.
